Default Portable CD Players

Reccomendations? Price isnt a big factor. I HAVE TO HAVE MP3 playback and a FM tuner would be nice. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sonicblue Rio Volt SP250

Description: The RioVolt SP250 is the premier portable CD player. The RioVolt SP250 plays CDs with MP3 and WMA files as well as standard audio CDs. This high-powered CD player delivers 8 minutes of shock protection and features an integrated FM tuner. It comes with long-life rechargeable batteries, an on-wire remote control, carrying case, and two styles of headphones. The RioVolt SP250 sets a new standard for excellence in portable audio. Price $125.00 I have this it rocks

iRiver SlimX iMP-350

The SlimX played every test CD we threw at it: audio CDs as well as data CDs filled with folders of MP3s, WMAs, and ASF files. We practically juggled the SlimX, but it never stuttered, thanks to eight minutes of antiskip protection. Serious joggers should probably go with a flash memory-based MP3 player, but the SlimX would probably be up to athletic endeavors if only the included carrying case had a belt clip. The SlimX also lacks a display, but that didn't bother us. Why? Because the player comes with an excellent remote. Price $125.00 A bud of mine has it and it's nice too!

Both are great hope this helps!

I think the SlimX is cooler looking, but it doesn't have the radio like the RioVolt does.. I don't think you could go wrong either way. They have a lot of the same features, with some differences:
  • The RioVolt uses 2 rechargeable AA batteries (~15 hours play time, but easily replaceable); the SlimX uses a flat NiMH rechargeable (~23 hours).
  • The SlimX is exactly half the thickness of the RioVolt, and weighs 6.6 oz to the RioVolt's 8.3.
  • The RioVolt comes with 2 sets of headphones: earbud and over-the ear types. The SlimX only comes with earbuds

Or you could get the best of both worlds and go with the soon-to-be-released RioVolt SP350 (coming 12/9/02). It's "Ultra-Thin", plays MP3 CD's, and has an integrated FM tuner. Comes with a car kit, too. Amazon lists it for $179.99.
