| I was perousing Newegg like I usually do when I have no other way to waste my time, ran across the NewQ Platinum thing and remembered seeing it on a couple rigs in the gallery, I was wondering if: A) It's worth the $90, B) How the hell you set it up, and C) Does it really change the sound quality? Thanks for your time. | ||

| I know nothing about it. ClowN and BA both have 'em. Here are their recent thoughts.......sounds like a waste-o-coin to me. http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread....=NewQ+Platinum | ||

| From the reviews I've read, it's more for show and a couple features than it is for sound quality. If you want the best sound possible, the best use would probably be an Audigy and 5.1 Surround speakers (The NewQ supports 2.1 & 4.1, but not 5.1). On the pro side, it does look really cool, has a built-in FM radio (works even when the computer's off), allows for tuning equalizer presets, and comes with a remote. On the other hand, it's designed to enhance single-channel sound cards (and even the SB Live 5.1 is only about $30), you can tune equalizer presets already in Winamp or Media Player, it doesn't support 5.1, and it has an annoying auto-mute "feature". | I like my new q. I am running a audigy sound card and logitech z560 4.1 thx. It actually amplifies my speakers a bit more than they already are. I like the remote and ability to customise the eq better than I can with just the speakers and a media player/ It does have some special settings kinda like the audigy player pluss I get a lot of comments from everyone that sees it. | ||

| Well thanks BA! audigy2 for me then.I allways wonder'd about newQ it looks cool but after this thread Audigy's the way I'll go. You allways hear about the flashy stuff but never an honest opinion even after someone buys it and puts it in. (I never really looked up newq but allways thought it was neat looking.now I won't waste my time or another thought about it, unless they upgade it like NewQ 2!!!) | ||

| i was giving my honest oppinion of my new q. but yeah it doesn't doo that much. The main reason I got it is because I like how it looks. But I would agree if you just want something awsome looking then get it, but if all you are worried about is major sound improvement then don't get it. But truthfully I have noticed a difference with and without it. | ||

| Yes I would agree with you. If you do not have the money to blow on just the wow factor then do not get it. The new q has actually helped me sell a few systems because of the wow factor. People can not find anything like that around here and think it is awsome. | ||
