Well it kind of has slipped off the radar screen, a bit. But at work today one of my co-workers was checking his email, and then I realized what it was. I asked him how he got it and he said a friend of his had an extra account that he gave to him. I asked him did he realize what he had, and he kind of had a blank look on his face. All he knew was that it had a 1gb storage, and that older files where archived. I took that time to wonder around a bit, and I have to say, Google has done one hell of a job. I was able to get a screenshot of it for ya'll to drool over.

I don't need a gig of storage, but I'd like a Gmail account. Do you know how much it will cost or if they will have a free version once it comes out of the Beta stage?

really? this is the first I've heard of gmail... a whole gig for free?! H.oly S.hit. They should make it usable for hosting files and stuff so that I can put a website on the 990MB that won't be used for email.

So far my account has been bare except for the EA NFSU online registration email I received.

Hopefully more use comes out of it as time goes by though...

Well, I have 2 GMail accounts. Have had them for a while now. It's nice, but I dont use them very much. Definitely better than MSN or Yahoo. If I ever get an account that I dont need, PM me and you'll be first on my list.

That would be nice if you could use it to host a webpage but that pretty much goes against the entire concept. It's a great idea by Google though, I would love to get an account.

I heard that Yahoo increased their free accounts to 100 Mb because of Gmail.

Ya its all free. Im pretty sure you wont be able to host anything off of it. From what I was able to gather, they are able to use this 1gb of email storage because they archive your emails.

Yes Rich you are correct, Yahoo did increase there email size to 100mb in response to Gmail. And for those people that purchase email from yahoo, that has grown to a 2gb size.

I got an account and its really nice for sending around big attatchments im not sure if they have an attachment size limit but ive sent and received files up to 8 Mb

Eh, I have the 100MB Yahoo email and still haven't hit 1%. I don't really store emails. Gmail would be sweet for like email movies and stuff, but attachments are limited to 10mb I think.

still thats bigger then hotmails 1Mb and i dunno what the limit is on yahoobut ill bet its smaller anyway it doesnt matter which is better its from google and we love them so they automatically win

Hotmail and Yahoo increased the storage size and max attachment size.

Will I get a gmail account? Of course. Will I use .1% of my storage? Prolly not. But, it's just one of those things, another account for spam.

I dont see how anyone would EVER use 1 GB of email space......I have had my hotmail account for so long that I would never change - everyone has my address and I would hate to go through all the trouble.

I realise its unsecure as all hell but its nice that Hotmail works with Outlook as well.

i have 3 gmail accounts i don't need because most of my friends have no idea what it is and i'd rather give them to people who cared. So if you want one email or pm me with your first and last name and your email address.

Hotmail is 2MB but it's going upto 250MB last I heard.
