Default New Laptop

I saw a cool ad in the local paper this morning for a Toshiba laptop. satellite A65, Intel 2.80 gig Proc, 198 ram, 60 Gig HD, DVD CD RW drive. 15" screen,

$900 after rebates, plus I bought the 3 year waranty for $319.

Should have I purchased the warranty or not? The guy at CompUSA said It was necessary becasue of how expensive these parts are inside.

I never buy the warranty. They come with a one year warranty from the factory i think. Really if it last the 30 day exchange period it will probably be ok if you care for it. On laptops its mostly the screens you have to worry about. But peace of mind is nice.

Kinda depends on how often it leaves your place...if you're going to be carrying it around alot (soccer games & out in front of starbucks), i always recommend one. Laptops are prone to being dropped and tossed around a lot more than a desktop (except mine!). Usually a hard drive or the invertor board for the lcd will fail before anything else. To replace one of these items, you're typically looking at something under $200. Think of it this way...the warranty usually pays for itself if you have to have it repair 2 or more times. If you got the warranty, don't baby it around...use it and abuse it!

I would not of bought that warranty....I think that they are a waste! But this is just my view and opinion, so I do agree with kirkmears....since you bought it USE IT AND ABUSE IT!!! I would of found something for 300 bucks and treated my self to something nice like a new video card or monitor! There my 2 cents!

You'll thank yourself for buying the warrant. On a desktop, no way 'cause those are easily repaired. The laptops, on the other hand, can be a pain in the butt. Hell, drop the thing once and guess what? You more than likely busted your LCD screen. Their warranty should cover that if you think up a good enough excuse.

Friend of mine had his video chip in his HP go bad. He called me up to thank me 'cause he had bought the laptop a year ago May. His manufacture warranty ran out, but the Best Bastards...er, I mean, Best Buy warranty covered it. Didn't cost him a dime.

Personally, I think they are worth every penny.

After further reviews, It will not move around much, mainly in the home, on a stand, or outside in my truck. ComUSA charged me $319 for a warranty that Toshiba will provide for 3 years at ($100.) So, I am gonna get a refund on the warranty and buy a $100 3 year from Toshiba. Thanks for the heads up guys. I certainly appreciate it.

Yeah well I personally wouldn't buy any warranty from CompUSA because I despise that store. Had more problems there than I care to imagine.

That said it probably is a good idea to get the 100 dollar warranty from Toshiba, because laptops can take a ton of punishment. And for 700 bucks that looks like a pretty good deal.
