| I remember Jonny writing a thread about this a while ago and I didn't want to resurrect a dead thread so here we go. About half-way through my work night last night, I started feeling sick and was getting a headache that progressively got worse. By around 4am, I began to puke my guts out and the light............OMG THE LIGHT!!!........was practically killing me. Needless to say, I ended up having to call my folks so that they both could come to help. My dad drove my car home and my mom gacve me a ride. Since my mom has migraines as well, she gave me 2 Darvocets that she had when I got in her minivan. By the time I got home, the light sensitivity had decreased dramatically (still was painful though) and after sleeping for around 10 hours, the light sensitivity is completely gone,(unusual since a migraine typically has me down for at least 2 days) as well as the nausea. Obviously, your mileage may vary, but it helped me so it may be worth looking into if you suffer from migraines. Edit: BTW, thanks to TekXoid for revamping my sig a bit to make it a bit more legible (and fixing the typo). | ||

| Thanks for the info Putwig, this was actually just a temporary solution since she had them. Truth be told, I only really have maybe 1 or 2 migraines a year so it isn't THAT bad but she has them more frequently and her doctors have gone through many different drugs to find ones that work best for her and the Darvocet seems to do the trick best. What else can I say? Worked for me too. | ||

I wouldn't worry about it, no-one else does ![]() (http://forums.pcapex.com/showthread....threadid=11791 if anyone is interested). What's Darvocet btw? I don't recognise the brand name, so drug/mg would be helpful ![]()

Can't say I've heard of those active ingredients, so it's obviously not something you can get over the counter here ![]()

Here either, it was prescribed to her. I would have to say after reading Putwigs response to your earlier thread, that I would imagine the best combination for me to wipe out a migraine would be this Darvocet and the Toradol, I have had good experiences with it in the past as well. Trouble is, my body has a natural high tolerance to most narcotics and these two (not sure if they are both considered narcotics, I don't think Toradol is) are exceptions. Recommended doses of these seem to work fine for me so that is cool too. Edit: the secondary ingredient, acetaminophen can be found in Tylenol.

| Darvocet is a combination of Darvon (propoxphene - a mild narcotic) and acetominophen (which is tylenol). Toradol is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory). It is similar to naproxen, voltaren, or ibuprofen. Toradol's big niche is that it is the only NSAID that can be given IV. Still, the triptans (maxalt, zomig, imitrex, amerge) are the mainstay of migraine treatment, or at least should be in this day and age. | ||

| I suffer chronic migranes, get them all the time, they suck I have a Maxalt prescrip and jesus they work fast, it doesn't take more then an hour to kill most of my migranes, except for the few that make me wanna puke, those require a few hours of sleep. Glad to hear you found something that works for you though. | ||

| Imitrex quite literally changed my wifes life. She was coming home from work 2-3 times a week with horrible migraines that had her in bed the rest of the day. Into ER 5-6 times a year for demerol, gravol, and IV fluids. With Imitrex, she would take a pill, go lay in the lunch room for 15 mins, and be back out to work. Andrevas, if you can't keep your Maxalt down due to nausea/vomitting, Imitrex comes in a nasal spray form or a small needle you put into the fat on your belly. Just in case you did not know. | ||
