What do you guys think of the computer desk i made?? the original plan was to have mine and my little brothers computer on the same desk to save some space in the room but after messing around with my rooms set up i found a way 2 have just my PC on there, so all that massive space for me!!

and before some1 sais it, no those are not my PCs (mine are worse), those are the schools old computers, i only used those coz i had 2 take photos so they could be sent of to the examiners.

nice 1 jonny, don't worry, i haven't finished with it, i'll send pics once i get done with her. might be some time still though, have to wait for the school to be done marking it and i think theres a certain time when i'm not allowed to take it home, bloody exam boards

Hehe same thing i did Johnny, except all my lights are hooked up to a rocker switch and a rheostat. Its my girlfriends night light, shes a little afraid of the dark and i was gettin tired of leaving the bathroom light on when i worked at night.

im diggin the pad looks slick...might have to move to london.but dont think they would like the paintings there.

w00t @ Jonny...I got a welder, steal and a paint booth at my disposal....exspect "project..ultra computer desk" from me in the near future.

I've got some thoughts on your desk though - this is meant as constructive criticism:

First off, the colour - that light grey is not very pimp - black, silver, or dark blue would look better;

Secondly, storage seems a bit lacking. A full depth shelf across the bottom would probably get in the way of your feet/ankles, but a 1/2 depth shelf across the back 1/2 would be very useful. It would also provide some support for a deeper section to house the towers in the centre. There's possibly room for a drawer in the centre too.

Finally - structural integrity: I don't see anything to prevent it parrallograming, & potential failing. You shouldn't underestimate how much a printer (especially HP deskjets) can swing a desk. You really need some sort of bracing on the back panel - either an X of tubes, or panels of mesh welded on for mo' pimpness.

your right about the storage i must say, my original design had basically what you have done on the tower except it was wider. my original design didn't have the keyboard trays but when i decided to put those in the tray wouldn't fit in, i didn't think of a tower shelf tho, altho i would prefer to have it on the desktop coz i wanna show off my mods I will probably do the big shelf on the bottom though over the summer when I get some more time.

as for strenght this desk is very sturdy, the metal has welded on some joints but the top and legs have been attached together with industrial braces designed for warehouses. I weigh 15 stone and can sit on it and shake it around but then it goes into my room i have a perfect corner in my room where its also supported by the wall on three sides so it should be fine.
