Default Recomendations for a CD/MP3 Player

Yeah, my trusty GPX C390 died today.

Now I need a replacment CD/MP3 player for around $30-40. Anyone got any suggestions? I saw the RioVolt SP60 going for $35 shipped on eBay.

I would say an iPod but that is a little over your budget

I have an RCA somethin somethin. Picked it up for like 40 bucks at Wal-Mart. Not the best, but, ehh... it works. Try at Wal-Mart first, they've always got the cheapest prices and you might actually find something you like.

Does it have to be a CD/MP3 player? Or would you deal with a straight digital player?

Uh, straight up digital would work, I guess. I figured a decent sized one was out of my price range though. Here's the cheapest CD/MP3 Wally World offers. Anyone try this?

I just bought the iRock 256MB WMA/DRM compliant with FM Tuner for $130. It's the 860 model. The one thing that impressed me with this model was the battery time.

this is what I have. i don't use it for like, all the time use, but every now and then. It works fine. The one thing I don't like is that the latch is a shade bit on the side of loose making me never sure if it's closed completely or what not. But, it's 40 bucks.

Oh, and I'm sorry, it's not directly compatible with WalMart's music downloads, I guess you're out of luck

Maybe this advice is worth nothing to you, but I personally have made it a habit of steering clear of RCA audio components. You can always find another brand name than them with better sound output quality.....in my opinion, RCA has a cheap price for a reason.

:\ I have had an RCA stereo for nearly 5 years now, and can't complain... I'm heading down to Wally-World tonight if I have time.

Oh yeah, I forgot to put the audiophile disclaimer in my post...... I tend to have a more "discerning" ear for audio. RCA is good for the "gen-pop" as most people are not audiphiles like me.

Well, Wally World asked me to kindly leave the premise for playing with the basketsballs. So I headed over to BestBuy and dropped $50 on an Audiophase CD player, with FM tuner and Mp3. I will post in a few days on my take on this product. As of now, all I can say is that headphones suck.

ROFL, I play with the sporting goods at Wallmart all the time. They seriously kicked you out?

Ok, I may or may not have been taking the basketballs and the kiddy balls and rolling them down the aisles...

Cheapest CD player ever is my $20 Curtis. I had a RIO SP250 from Tigerdirect (refurbished) that died soon after I bought it. I'm currently looking for the iRiver version that is very similar to the Rio. It's called the ChromeX iMP-150.

I recently got a Hitachi DAP-38 ... it was cheap (£25), you get an inline remote & mains adaptor, it sounds good (with decent headphones), and (always a plus point for me), you can crank it up to hearing damaging levels.

Not that I want to, I just like to have the _choice_
