| I'm talking about inaccurate or otherwise shoddy tools. I just lost about 4 hours worth of filing because I came to discover that the damn thing is slightly curved (straight edge file)....and filing isn't very fun. Now none of the corners meet. Piece of crap.... I also bought a curved drill bit the other day as well. Good times....good times. Worst part is I can't even return the damn things. I guess the moral of the story is to put the parts up against a flat surface before buying them, although it is kind of hard to do if they're packaged. Oh well, just had to take a break for a minute. Back to filing then I guess. | ||

| On the tools, I only buy Craftsman. I have learned the hard way that it is well spent money. I would second them only to Snap-On. Both are expensive, but all life time waranties are that way. And they are worth it. On the zippered jimmy, well, been there zipped that. And my wife still likes to help me remember ![]() | ||

| Never had the zipper issue but I guess I have a few more years left to get it accomplished. I recently had an odd tool related experience that still makes be scratch my head. Changing my wifes oil - common newer Chevy product with a 15 mm socket. I grab my Craftsman set and go to work. The damn socket wont hardly catch any of the damn drain plug - its nearly rounded off. Hmmm - tried a 12 point socket with the same result. So I call the handy dandy local shop were my wife had the oil changed and inform/ask them to get the car in on the hoist and kindly remove their shatty workmanship so I can replace the plug and be on my marry way. I show up expecting them to have to weld a nut on the end of the plug to remove it - been down that road before. The mechanic, who is a friend of mine, looks at the plug and exclaims that I must be using ****ty tools as he reached up there with a common 15 mm Snap On socket and turns the plug right off. Hmmmm.........the plug fit tight in the Snap On socket but was loose as hell in both my Craftsman sockets. Of course I replaced the plug anyways but I would have bet my life that 15 mm is 15 mm no matter what brand/type of socket you use. Guess not. | ||
