British Government Considers Mandating Plastic Pint Glasses - Lowering the Bar

Now your gov. is going save you from getting attacked with beer mugs.....Sound like prison yet? Your gonna have to resort to sharpening your toothbrushes in the near future.

I wouldnt normally post something like this but I get such a tickle out of riling up my British buddies that I couldnt resist.

Why is this supposed to be riling? Thousands of pubs, bars, nightclubs, outdoor events, music festivals, theaters and sporting events have been serving drinks in plastic glasses for years...

If this sort of thing makes you feel in some way 'less free' you have my sympathy.

im sorry. but plastic does not get as cold as a nice frosted mug.


and since i live in seattle. i should be whining about the effect on the environment, but meh.

The fact that the British government is even entertaining the idea that you cant be trusted with a glass bottle blows me away. When will the Brits say enough is enough? Its not about the glass bottle Dex, its about the fact that its just a fricken glass bottle.

Just wow. Don't won't to get into a political debate here, but you can't legislate intelligence. Wouldn't it make more sense to try to find out why so many are violent? LOL Pretty sure there is a tax on the beer, so nope, that ain't the problem...

Funny thing about this law though is that it says only people with Concealed Carry permits may do this. Do you know how many people have been killed in the US by people that have these permits? I do. Its only 1 person, and that case was thrown out of court being cited as justifiable due to the man doing the shooting was defending himself and told the assailant to stop.

So basically, like typical, people are going to assume the worst possible scenario even though the only people allowed to have a handgun in a bar will be the only people not drinking, and you can guarantee that they dont have a criminal history due to the background check that is required just to attain this cert. Sounds like a win win to me. If more people were to do some research on concealed carry and responsible gun owners they would find that alot of their inhibitions were unfounded and wrong.
