| To make a long story short ... I had an old AM2 socket Asus M2N-E (NF570 Ultra) with an 4800+x2 & 2 GB DDR2 Kingston , the highest stable overclock i'ved got with this board 24/7 was 3000. mhz (240x12.5) at 1.4125v & Ram at 430 mhz(860) at 1.95v (max volt ram in bios) Anyhow my brother AM2 board died no to long ago so i give him my board to get myself a better board (AM2+) i first bought MSI K9A2 CF-F V2 wich was suppose to be a good board with good overclock ... well turn out that i couldn't get stable over 228x12.5 with 1.4250v (2850 mhz) no matter what voltage i give or even with my ram at 200 mhz (400) or 2.1v on ram ... anything over 228 the pc would freeze & not post on restart then Bios would reset to default settings. I call the guy where i buy my computer parts & ask him what he could get me with the same chipset 790x & for about the same price , well that board was Gigabyte GA-MA790x-UD4P (AM2+) here a quick reviews on youtube ; YouTube - Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P Motherboard (the guy mistaking the Board it is an AM2+ board not an AM3 board but it support AM3 CPU's) Just got the board yesterday cost $30.xx more then the MSI but man! this board rocks i did a quick overclock got 2925. mhz (234x12.5) stable at stock voltage (1.3v) temp 42-43c full & Ram at stock voltage at 417 mhz. Ived got 3250 mhz (260x12.5) with 1.425v on a quick run but it was not stable i didn't rise voltage over 1.425v or play with memory's settings yet , it would be cool to get 3200 mhz stable , but still running 2925 mhz (425mhz overclock) at stock voltage is really good , one more thing i was amazed about is the on-board sound it sound so great that it is better than my Audigy4 pci , believe it or not. Next week i'll have some more time to play with & we'll see what appens then... i didn't try the AMD overdrive yet i'm a Bios kind of guy lol! but i did try Easy Tune 6 a bit when i'ved got my 3250 mhz... I love this board , best board for the price CPU-Z Validator 3.1 P.S. I'll change my video card soon & go crossfire later on , should i go for the 4770 or 4850? (anything higher are to expensive for me) thx! Last edited by goodman123; 03-October-09 at 08:57 PM.. | ||
