| This is actually really kewl. Creative has been going south for some time, the company even had an anandtech article about the last 10 yrs of the sound industry. This looks like it might hold them through. They have made a computer to compete with the Intel handhelds, and they already make mobile audio/video devices so. Plus with the inclusion of Android, the market will buy the device, Android, despite its flaws, is one stable OS. | ||

| from what i can see it looks good. but what does it bring to the table that something like the iphone/itouch doesnt? i just recently got an iphone, and the amount of apps for it is amazing. it sorta leaves my poor zune collecting dust, as now i dont need to carry the zune plus my phone. As for creative, Soundblaster was the best of the best. It is what made creative. Most of the other products they had did poor in comparison (except mayben the zen, but other more popular mp3 players pratilcy killed it) the biggest thing to bring down the company was vista. when vista hit, they only had support for it for the current top of the line cards. for most older cards they told people to buy a new a card... and when they did it was for a diffrent company. ppl made thier own drivers, and got sued by them. the finaly creative released drivers.. (mainly crippled) for more of the older soundcards... by then it was to late. | ||

Those stats alone make this a hell of a lot better than the iPhone. The iPhone may have a million apps, but functionality is missing. Can you print? Can you use outlook to push email? The apps may be endless, but you'll just bog it down with a hundred apps. My buddy crashed his iTouch from having a gazillion apps on it. The iPhone has "pretty" and "neat" down. Now it just needs to catch up with the actual good ole "smartphone" users. One of my friends always ask me to use my youtube app when he wants to see the video in better quality and smoother..lol Besides didn't the iPhone JUST get video recording capability. My windows Mobile device, has 87 "apps" installed. I have a collection of over 400 .cab files for different applications I've used. All the applications I downloaded online. Now I didn't have an app store, but I got the apps just as easily. Either or, my phone or the iPhone still doesn't have 1080p, or x-fi sound. those make this device alot better. Also the Zen Vision M won CES best in show, twice. It was also cheaper and had more options than the iPod, and to top all that, it's compatable with linux... Sorry if I ranted a little, I hate the iPhone

I am not an apple fan boy. But you need to compare apples to apples. so ignore the iphone, the zen vision m does not support phone abilities. in a nut shell the zen vision m is more like an original ipod (which i absolutely hate. i have a zune for playing mp3s and movies) the ipod touch however does bring some stuff to the table that the other players dont have. i didnt buy my itouch/iphone for the player abilites. I bought it as a web device / pda replacement. the apps are nice. but the biggerst thing i use it for is streaming video and music. no conversions needed. i can also do online streaming video like tv.com, youtube, soon hulu. plus you can do games..

True that, The internet brings a whole new usage to portable media. I too see this device as much inferior to iPhones and HTC devices. But neither of the phones support 1080p... I like creative, and would love to see this compete with archos portable video players. Which is an entirely differnt genre and a much smaller audience. The games are the only thing I wish my phone had.... But the touch pro 2 will have the accelerometer.

does this have 1080p output? cuz for such a small screen, to have that high of a resolution seems more like a marketing gimmick

It does have 1080p output through a componant connection to a hd tv you can play stored movies in hd on a tv though the device. Who knows maybe a cellphone carrier will pick it up and add telephone capabilities to it. And the Zii can also play games its sapposed to be pretty advanced in the video department but lets wait and see just what it can do in the future who knows what will happen by the time it comes out?
