| Re: Happy 4th Pimps and Pimpettes! Just got back from my city's little fireworks shindig...
It was cool that they asked all the servicemembers, firefighters, and law enforcement personnel to stand up and be recognized before the fireworks were counted down, but then they raised what I can only describe as one of the most anemic-looking flags I've ever seen, the PA system stuttered all through the Star Spangled Banner, and the "safety zone" that they marked off around the fireworks firing pit was anything but safe.
There were people literally RUNNING back from the "front row seats" so they wouldn't get pelted with the remnants of the fireworks as they fell back to the ground.
I think the best one that I've seen was in Colorado Springs a couple of years ago (97-98), where they had the music and fireworks synchronized perfectly... Nothing like hearing the rythm and beats of the National Anthem matched by the explosions in the sky... "Rockets' red glare" took on a very special meaning that year... |
