| I really hate it when you get a series of movies, such as the Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings series, etc. where they have the initial film, then a sequel, and then a prequel. Damn it, it kills the movie because you already know how it's going to end. LINK | ||

| Sometimes it has a nice effect of 'Oh, THATS why this was like that' and the other movies becomes less confusing in some respect. Though most attempt to simply entertain, as well as garner profits. Would be kinda nice to see the rest of what was in the first part of the second movie; way back in the past when the three vampires were out and about, taking out the unfriendly lycans. Hey, at least its not another sequel that makes the whole series go down hill XD | ||

I was thinking exactly the same thing recently. There is just something about a prequel that is completely unsatisfying. The whole Star Trek: Enterprise series was never more than okay yet something new like Firefly doesn't make it one season. And on the subject of Star Trek, the whole "reboot" kick Hollywood is on is very lame as well. It's bad enough when we already have more Friday the Thirteenth movies than I can count, including one in space, now they are going to start over. For every Batman: Begins and BSG there is a dozen bad ideas for a reboot. Night Rider sucked back in the day, the new one is just as lame and it just got picked up for a whole season while a show like Pushing Daisies is on the bubble. Either peoples taste in entertainment is horribly messed up or we need a ratings system that actually addresses the fact people use DVR's and watch shows online. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Maybe the prequel/reboot thing is just because writers know that sequels are a harder sell sometimes [esp. when a story seems "done"]. But remakes have been with us forever. And prequels speak to innate desire to be in on things from the beginning [Do you want the third issue of the comic book or the first one?]. -MF | ||

That's because there is an injunction or whatever filed against it, due to Peter Jackson not paying his proper royalties to the Tolkein Estate. Was in the news earlier this year since it was noted that there was a Hobbit movie, but there was that little reason it hasn't been released or finished production.
I concur. ![]() | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
