| Hi, I am getting the urge to build a website and wanted to know what the type of site (or application) is called when you can get feed from your vendors (i think its an XML feed) that will automatically update products, availability and pricing? Thanks in advance. | ||

| It depends wildly on what you're speaking with. Some services take the form of "request a carefully formatted URL, which serves as a command, then parse what we post back." Others are "download this file which is regularly updated, and just contains passive info". Sometimes, you can query just a single item, and sometimes, they provide an update of everything, and you have to digest it to get what you do want, and maybe cache the rest for future use. | ||
