But AntiM and Rob. Now you can quote all kinds of historical blunders and straight up stupidity. How can a person be a viable presidential candidate and not know how many states we have? This is not like the stock market, it has been pretty stable for the last oh 20 years or so.

Any 5th grader should know how many states are in the US!

Let's just take a sample of your post AntiM. "Maybe the same way Ronald Reagon thought trees produced more C02 than cars." Now sure, for most of us, that is a pretty simple concept. Trees use photosynthesis and produce oxygen, not CO2. Beautiful thing. That at least gets into the realm of chemistry and biology. So what does what a dead ex president have to do with the simple fact that Obama does not know how many states are in the US? Is he going to expect us to count the votes of the 57+ states for the election?

And I am not a fan of McCain and Palin. It sickens me that so many candidates dropped out before my state even had a primary election.

Personally, I don't think either candidate is worth a ****.

And I am enjoying reading about views that others have. While I might think you are crazy, I respect your opinions.

My Philosophy/Religion professor told me that there is a passage is their holy book which states something along the lines of "thou shall not indulge" and I guess that being on TV is a form of indulgence and personal gluttony. He had a weird way of explaining it.

Did you read the Snopes article? He was going to say 47 states, but started with 50. Makes sense. Normally candidates are talking about all 50 states, except this time he was going to say 47. It's a slip of the tongue. Get over it. It's not like the current President hasn't had any...

I was unaware being on TV is bad for real Muslims. Anything can be an indulgence, so that passage (I've never read it, but I'm not saying its not there) can be applied to anything, TV included I suppose.

How do you know what he was going to say? Why not start with 800 states? Slip of the tounge? I don't think so. How do you not know something so simple. And if you don't, why the heck should I vote for you?

Very simpe concept. We have 50 states. Had them for years. Obama does not know this. This is not organic chemistry! This is really simple stuff that he can't seem to understand.

Oh heck! Maybe he just miss spoke.

Fun little debate here, glad it has not gone downhill!

Again, while I dissagree with you, I do respect your opinions.

Focused like a laser Spectrum. I could post several ways here, but this is a cival discussion.

Person runs for president.

Person visits 57 of the states excluding Alaska and Hawaii?

Person is an epic fail on basic geography. Yep, I want him in charge. This is crap a 5'th grade kid should know.

And sure, we face much larger issues right now. Minnor issue, perhaps. But I am sorry, how the hell do you not know that we have 50 states?

Well, he meant to say... Dude, it is 50 states. Obama is an idiot in my personal opinion.

And none of these candidates are my ideal at all. Not even close.

That is my response.

While I do see your point, I am not comparing Obama to McCain here, rather an outgoing President.

See how that works both ways? Everyone mis-speaks. I'm sure that you've never stuck your foot in your mouth?

EDIT: Olberman is another talk show host I can't stand.

EDIT: Here's a video that relates to Sen. McCain's mental unstability...

I am not talking about miss speaking. Hell, I have had foot in mouth rash since I joined this site!

Again, I don't see either candidate as even an ok choice. My whole point is that Obama does not seem to even know how many states make up the US. How can he govern them? Children know we have 50 states.

And to be honest, I think McCain is just a tiny bit better than Obama. Do I vote for a frog or a toad?

My candidate does not exist. Or is not running.

C'mon now, you can't honestly think the man doesn't know how many states there are. And it's been stable for 49 years, it will be fifty January 3rd. You think you'd be old enough to know if a state was added in your lifetime. I won't hold it against ya though. hehe gotcha posting.

I always remember a quote form Robert Heinlein concerning politics. "Any one who aspires to political office is inherently unqualified for the job." And another from Tom Clancy in Red October, "Son, I'm a politician, that makes me a crook and a liar by profession."

Heaven knows intelligence is not the prime requisite for political office. Dan Quayle couldn't spell, "potatoE". George Bush was a C student. If the SAT scores that showed up recently on the web are genuine, Palin's school record is even less impressive than Bush's.

But neither Presidential candidate is stupid, neither is a terrorist, neither is a traitor, neither is evil incarnate.

When someone is leaning so far right they think Obama is a Arab terrorist or I'm a politically correct libtard, they need to back up and check their facts. When someone blindly slants so far left he can't give McCain the respect deserved for serving his country in a time of war, he needs to step off.

Good post. But I still think a kid knows how many states we have. And Obama has no clue... see link above....

And since there has been no name calling here yet, let me be the first to call most of you 'thinkers'.

I do wonder about Obama's 'frineds' though. My call is that he is way out in left field and would be very bad for our country. But that is just my opinion. Honestly, I enjoy reading posts from people with different views. Like I said, we can agree to dissagree, and have a great discussion!

However, I'll go on the record and say they shouldn't have said the things that they have said. They were wrong and need to apologize to Sen. McCain, who served his country with honor and distinction.

The Rezko money? Sen. Obama has, after Rezko was convicted of being a felon which was after Sen. Obama paid fair market price for his house, donated it to charity. The 10-foot strip of land Sen. Obama purchased from the lot next door was in excess of market value. LINK and LINK. Oh, Sen. Obama's statement about Rev. Wright...LINK.

You seem to have missed my point, Sparky. My point is in the continual "guilt by association" mudslinging that's going on in the media, both conservative and liberal. You are more than welcome to believe in the guilt by association theories if you want to, but in my book you're only going to classify yourself as weak-willed and gullible. I only brought up the guilt by association on the Sen. McCain side to evoke a reaction, not because I believe that crap.

THIS is what I'm talking about.

So, if you want to keep listening to Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Brit Hume, Greta, and the host of other right wing radical conservative talk show hosts continually throw inferences around like candy at a parade or plant seeds of unfounded suspicions, then keep doing so. To balance that, I'll keep believing in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny.

Rob

P.S.

Here's a shocker...I had voted for Sen. McCain in the 2000 Republican primaries for the simple fact that he didn't go dirty when Pres. Bush's campaign (in South Carolina) said that Sen. McCain's Bangladeshi born daughter was his own, illegitimate black child, that he was a homosexual, his wife was a drug addict, that he was mentally unstable, and worse yet...that the Viet Nam decorated hero was actually a traitor to his own country. Just goes to show you that politicans will turn on their own.

EDIT: Yeah...nice sign-off line there, Sparky. Just further endorsement on how this country is being divided...

EDIT II: Want to talk about money and the Middle East? How about Pres. Reagan and the arms to Iran? Oh, that's right...FoxNews hired the middle man as a news correspondent.

Re-Read my post. All I was getting at was the continuation of the liberal media not doing there job. If everything was fair and balanced we'd all have permanent marks on our sofas from all the crap that was dug up on each side. You simply cannot say it isnt biased.

BTW do you really believe that Wright or Ayers dont hate America. One bombed the Sh1t out of our federal buildings, and the other said we deserved 9/11 and God Damn America. I dont need to meet someone with those social graces to know that they hate what I love. I damn sure wouldnt associate with either and I know that without running for President. I dont care if he denounces every one of em either, he still was their. Yup I think associations have alot to do with a persons being and how they think too. I might not have the right amount of free thinking in my cup though.

Fred I thought you said you weren't reading into that. This guy has been to better schools than you or I, met smarter people, made more money, come pretty close to becoming the president of the U.S. and you can't give him the benefit of the doubt about whether he knows that there are 50 states? If you just wanted a laugh, then go ahead he deserves it for saying that, but if you seriously believe that's what he meant to say then you're being pretty unrealistic.

If everything was "fair and balanced" (the horse sh*t phrase that Fox News loves to use), then the "liberal media" would be having a field day with some of Sen. McCain's associations (see below).

Then Sen. McCain is in a world of sh*t, if you're going to use that standard. Ret. Gen. John Singlaub had links to an organization full of Nazi collaborators and Central American death squads. Sen. McCain served on the US Council for World Freedom with him back in the 1980s. Never mind that Sen. McCain asked to have his name taken off the board's roll call...he still associated with him.

I don't know about you, but I haven't seen that splashed all over the "liberal media". Hell, I found that on FoxNews.

You're still putting full faith into this "guilt by association" because you want to, not because it's real. You want to make an excuse not to like Sen. Obama and this is your easiest ticket to get there. You probably still believe in just about every single conspiracy theory about Democrats that ever hit the airwaves dating all the way back to Pres. John Kennedy wanting to ask the Pope if he wanted to move the Vatican to the United States.

You know there's no "secret" connection between Sen. Obama and Ayers just as I know that all the examples that I provided in this thread about Sen. McCain and his connections aren't true. You're just so dyed in the wool Republican to admit it. Be proud of that, but don't debase your dignity by buying into the 2000 South Carolina Republican primary style of campaigning.
