Default Innovation Guide to Mischief.

Hey guys, many of you may know me as a web designer but I also like stretching out my mind in other things...

So with that said I plan on writing a book that includes different innovative/cool things that one can do or make. Its pretty much a showcase of my knowledge and my attempt of spreading it to the world. A lot of this info will be about spud guns and the different ideas/projects that im working on. The book will be a mix of ideas and how-to guides on everything from spudguns, airsoft, hacking, pranks and more.

I have a table of contents already but I'm still updating and adding a lot of info to my book.

So here it is:

Noitavonni Ediug ot Feihcsim
By David Vaini

Table of Contents

Preface…........................................ .....................1
Airsoft........................................... ......................2
Vortex/BBMG………………3
Traps/Landmines…………..10
RPG/Launchers..…………..12
Grenades……..……………17
Spring Rifles...…………….19

Hacking…........................................ ....................35
Starting out…….…………..36
Source Code....…………..37
XSS...........................38
Cookies......................40
Hacking Pranks...........41
School Restrictions......42
Helpful Tools...............43

Pranks............................................ ..................45
Freebies.......................................... ..................48
Dumpster Diving 101..........49
Scams and you!.................58

Outdoor Survival.......................................... ....62
Location...........................63
Food/Water......................65
Tips.................................74

sorry for the bad layout of it.. transferring it from word pulled a number on it.

So what do you guys think of my idea? I don't really care if it sells or not or if a publisher picks it up... just wanting to spread knowledge.. I will have a free pdf version of it online when I build a website for it.

Also I was thinking about later adding online "booster packs" with more info provided by myself and others such as you guys.

Now A huge part of the book is spudding (one of my main hobbies) and airsoft. however the other part of the book is about programing, hacking, and general computer knowledge.

I was also thinking about putting in some modding tips, list of useful programs for different needs and more... So if you have any cool useful info you can add just list it below!

So basically you're trying to rewrite the Anarchist Cookbook, adding a pinch of computers?

Doesn't some of the phreaking in the ACB count as computer stuff?

I don't plan on making this an anarchist cookbook. Besides in almost all of the anarchist cookbooks the info is from before 1992. The information that im providing is a mix between a cool spudding bible, airsoft handbook, hacking guide and other fun stuff.

I realize that sounds like a anarchist cookbook but it really isnt if you seen some of the content. For example:
my vortex cap gun.
Its basically an airsoft gun that shoots 115 bb's per second. In other words it shoots 6900BB's per minute or about twice as fast as a m134 minigun.

I will also include how to make a burst disk grenade launcher, pneumatic landmines powered by bike pump or compressor. I will also include pneumatic grenades, RPG's and Other launchers. I'm always working on new and innovative stuff for airsoft, and spudding alike.

whats the point of this book???

are you just looking to get yourself in trouble with the federal law, copy right laws, and anything else?

who are you trying to target with this book? kids? teenagers? adults? convicts? criminals?

finally, what makes you think anybody cares about this info?

its great that you know this info.. i guess.. but so what. to write a book about it? comon.. all i see is someone trying to get attention, and you will get your hand slapped hard. im sure there are federal laws that prevent publishing material for anything that can cause serious bodily harm..explosives, and that type.

copyright laws to make you bankrupt, because im sure you did not invent this, your just publishing it to act like you invent it and take credit for it.

im not going to bother to look at your profile to see your age, but ill assume your under 18.
what trouble will your parents get into? after all they are resposible for you pysically and financially.
so if you get sued, ordered to pay fines and what not, its not you who will pay the bill, its your parents.
hope the house is worth alot.. copyright laws are a bitch with those hefty fines.

go ahead, write it and post it online. it will be fun to watch the outcome.

sorry for being a asshat, but it doesnt take a forum post to tell you this is a stupid idea... maybe it does... but hey, your not my kid.

We'll it does sound cool. But I'm going to have to agree with TCG_Modder. It sounds like trouble and a big pile of it.

If you want to write a book you should start with just one of your ideas and focus on that topic 100%. If you can muster up the knowledge on one subject first then you'll reinforce your credentials on your other idea's. And remember, plagurism is a big no,no and it will bite you on your arse.

Not really, yes it involves tricking computers, but historically the phreaker doesn't use the computer hands on. In any case, its illegal.

Whatever it is I don't think its a great idea. If you like developing stuff for airsoft or "spudding" whatever the hell that is, then fair enough, give it a website, with a HUGE disclaimer along the lines of "TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK" otherwise you'll find yourself in some serious cat sh1t.

Its certainly not a good idea posting it here. Ill wait for a more senior staffer to chime in before saying anything else, there are those here who've moderated this type of thing for years.

I agree, posting your idea is alright, but don't try posting any of the content. And I'm not a senior staffer, but if the question is raised I'll vote against your book or any portions of it being posted here.

I'm not under 18, my parents are not responsible for me financially, as I own my own house and I pay my own bills. You are making a lot of assumptions and you know what they say about assuming. Also another assumption you made was about copyright infringement. You have not seen the content of the book therefore you can not comment rightfully about its legitimacy.

For example I would be posting my vortex cap design that I came up with. (Yes I was the first to come up with the design and yes it has been cited.). I'm not against your concerns about copyright infringement; in fact I'm quite glad you are watching out for my safety. I just wish you didn't make assumptions about the content of the book without knowing the actual content. I'm not posting anything about bombs and nothing that exceeds 5 joules, except for the spud guns in which case they are not illegal anyways.

The point of my book is to spread this helpful knowledge to those who share similar hobbies. Those hobbies being airsoft, spudding, and computer security. All of which have a huge target audience.

Am I correct in assuming that "Spudding" is the act of making and shooting potatoes from homemade cannons?

Otherwise, modding airsoft guns isn't illegal, nor is launching a vegetable in the air or ground. I think the landmines and RPG's he speaks of are airsoft based, meaning for airsoft warfare only. I'm assuming a lot, but I remember having friends who were way too into airsoft back in High School, and they thought of this kind of stuff a lot too.

While it doesn't sound like anything I'd be in the least bit interested in, I doubt it falls into the category of "illegal".

There are countless Department of Defense books available that makes this seem like boys playing with toys kind of stuff. And there are craploads of websites that already cover the subject matter with impunity.

The thing you have to ask yourself is this, if just one person is hurt or maimed trying to follow info in your "book", could you live with that? I've seen some of the absurd lengths some have gone to with spud guns and the like. They are no longer spud guns when you hook up a twenty foot section of pipe to a a couple of high pressure cylinders, that's an air canon. And it could kill you if misused or if it's poorly constructed.

William Powel, the author of the original anarchist cookbook wrote it just out of high school. He has since had a change of heart and wants the book taken out of print. But he no longer owns the rights. That's pretty much the same as posting anything on the web.

Well, not entirely: if you post something on your own website, it becomes copyrighted material for you, and legally binding in a court of law if someone steals that information. There have already been numerous cases of this defended and supported by judgments. If you post it to a public forum, then you give up copyright.

However, the concept of having lost control of the information is another thing -- once it's written and "out there" it's out there forever. Like the truth, only easier to find and harder to hide.

Personally, I agree w/ Slay's idea of concentrating on one topic and publishing that book -- might even get "Idiot's Guide to Spudding" sold to the publisher, you never know. Worth a shot. But be careful about disclaimers, and statements about "people who use this book in any manner other than described or intended are doing so at their own risk" statements -- you'll definitely want that. But, if you can get one good, solid, concrete topic written in, and sold to a publisher, they'll take care of the legalese for you because they don't want to get their own butts waxed legally.

Good luck!

All I am going to say DV, is good luck.

I too will not be interested in this kind of thing but that is me.

One word of advise, double check all your sources, I caught you once with plagerism. Yes it was a simple image from another website, but you claimed it as your own. Keep everything original! If not, allways get permission and quote your source.

Edit: Listen well to your friends on Spud Files as well, and take heed to all advice and give credit where it is due.

I was thinking it involved potatoes, a petrochemical product & a tight fit in an orifice ... but in quite a different way, so I'm glad someone explained it to me
