| No, not bribery or anything illegal, none of that... A couple weekends ago, I packed up Household Six and the Wee One and headed down to KC for to have BA help me do some high-end electronics shopping... Well, that and a beer and a good steak dinner, but the shopping was the main thing... I felt like a complete hick as we walked into the Nebraska Furniture Mart there at Legends Mall... This place was freakin' HUGE!!! I didn't get to see all of it, but I'm sure there is a hotel, Olympic-sized swimming pool, and probably an amusement park stuffed in there somewhere... After much looking and gawking, I finally settled on THIS (And DAMMIT! if it didn't go on sale!!!) BA and "Alex" the "Home Theater" salesperson that helped me (read: didn't treat me like a hillbilly coming into the big city for the first time). The Payoff comes today, when the NFM guys come to deliver the new plasma HDTV in a couple hours... HH6 and the Wee One are off to work and school, respectively, and I'm sitting here waiting like a kid waiting for daylight on Christmas morning... ![]() ![]() ![]() Gotta move some furniture around and vacuum, and then be ready to be dazzled and amazed by the sheer size and picture quality... I do have some work to do though, after they deliver the plasma... I picked up an entertainment center set of tempered glass and steel, and I have to put that together (they have to deliver it up three flights of stairs, give 'em a break, huh?) That, and to hook up my laptop's HDMI port and get down to some big-screen fraggage in the "Death From Above" level of CoD4 ![]() ![]() ![]() Pictures to follow... Oh, and BA: I found out that The Little Apple Brewing Co is no longer THE BEST place in Manhattan to get a good beer and steak dinner... I went to a place called Doe's last night, and I couldn't finish the sirloin... You know where we're going when you (and Das Frau is invited as well) come out this-aways... | ||

| Awesome screen. I love the feeling when you purchase some monolithic electronic device that you know will keep you entertained (as well as off of your real work). Just recently I purchased a Harman Kardon receiver as well as some speakers and now my room as damn near complete with electronic stuff. edit: the rep system appears to be broken for me as I cannot hit you with some rep for the vista sale/great feedback. | ||

| Yup, the iTrader thing is down, too... I've tried to do the rep thing as well, but no dice yet... But anyhoo... The NFM guys have come and gone... And I still managed to break a sweat setting up the EC... Still working, actually, gotta get all the hookups completed before I start in on the fraggage/movie watching (gonna break that up-converting DVD player in RIGHT (read: Star Wars marathon / Gladiator / Swordfish)... Ooh, MAMA, this thing is a BEAST!!! ![]() | ||

| Apex Tech Fanatic | this past weekend we upgraded from the normal 27 inch TV to a 52 inch samsung HD TV. im surprised by the huge difference from normal cable to the HD channels. i just wish there were more HD channels out. ( Comcast cable ) we didnt buy any surround sound yet, nor HD DVD player. i was thinking of just buying a PS3 and using that as the HD/ZBluray DVD player, but the sales person did have a good point that you can wear out the laser pretty fast by doing that, plus the PS3 wont have good sound that you would get from a dedicated DVD player. so glad the wife works at bestbuy corporate. saved $800 on the TV alone, and we even bought the 4 year warranty on it too. im kind aplaying the D-I-Y handy guy at the house, so i imagine once we get the surround sound in i will be installing it myself. | |

The laser thing sounds like gibberish to me. I know people who have the original xboxes and still watch dvds on them. Also the PS3 supports HDMI as well as optical output which is the same thing as most stand alone blueray/dvd players.

| I was waiting for you to post when it arrived. I bet it looks more awesome in your house than it did on the floor at NFM. The bad thing about shopping with you is that afterward I came home and looked at my tiny 38" HDTV and now find it extremely lacking. I wouldn't be surprised if one of them accidentally falls on the floor soon. I had fun spending your money and shooting the $hit with you, and the Frau's seemed to have a good time prowling the stores too. I'll be heading out your way this summer and am looking forward to some scorched mid-Kansas beef. | ||

I got the TV base and the audio towers at NFM as well... And they were too much for me to usually go for, but I'll tell ya this: 50" Plasma + TV base +2x towers + Monster power line filter + Samsung HDTV-compatible DVD player + the stuffed "Balto" for the Wee One + 3-year ex warranty with NFM = $3300 delivered. As for the beer, that's actually something I don't usually drink when the Wee One is up and about... ![]()

| Awesome setup and purchase. I think I got the same box from Fios. I actually just got a 19 inch for my desk. Sitting next to the 20 and 17 inch monitors its sweet. Also make sure you use either a Pixar dvd after 2000 or any Lucas Film to calibrate that bad boy using the THX Optimizer. Huge difference when I did mine. | ||
