Default US Postal address? How can i get one?

Hiya,

I'm in Australia, but i wanted to know if there is a service that lets me use a US postal address and can forward stuff to me here in OZ!

Why you ask? Well there is plenty of stuff that my US friends get that i cant. Im simply jealous and need this!

Any suggestions?

Cheers

Don't know of anything like that commercially, as the USPS already forwards mail for you (well not for you, but you know what I mean).

Assuming you aren't going to make a weekly habit of this, I'd imagine a member here in the states could help you out.

You need to go to a DHL, FedEx or UPS office and talk to them. You can rent a P.O box in the states but be warned it is pretty expensive---especially for the bigger boxes. I suggest staying away from DHL as they're absolute crap at getting stuff shipped over to the Middle East, for me at least.

Hope that helps

Necro did this type of thing for Keepaf once (he's from new zeland)

If you need something or some stuff, just let me know, I get three or four packages a day, I'd gladfully reship them to you (if you pay the shipping) no biggie here. I also get a discount for all my shipping needs so, it could be less than average.

PM me if you want some stuff shipped.

Here's the deal with US post office boxes and express couriers, such as FedEx, DHL, and UPS.

The express couriers do not deliver to PO boxes, so anything you order would have to be delivered by US postal mail. To top that off, anything forwarded outside of the US by the US Postal Service would be charged at the regular rate anyway. That means you would have to pay shipping twice, once from the retailer to your PO box, then from your PO box to Australia.

Of course you could always buy a house or apartment in the US and rent it out to someone with the stipulation that they ship any stuff that comes there for you to you down under.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for those replies and suggestions.

Im kinda interested in some of those cool rebates/coupon offers you all get over there.

It wouldnt happen very often but as you all know, you need a US address and someone to buy it and cash in the coupon or collect the rebate.

Anyone live near a big discount PC store?

The difference is a PC store charges tax in most places (unless you live on a native American reserve, but I doubt there would be a computer store...) and tax on anything that cost enough to ship, is normally around the same as the shipping from an e-tailer.

I can only say if you want stuff, get it ship it and get it re-shipped. But make sure its worth the difference.

like a CPU thats $200USD and like $400 in the land down under, the shipping wouldn't touch the price differnce. If you are thinking rebates, most of them are US residence only. Meaning whoever you send it to would have to redeem it and then forward you the cash. Kinda risky to save a few bucks, thats why I would suggest totaling up you savings vs you double shipping.
