And since you ordered them presumably over the internet/phone order. Your return shipping will be high - and yer gonna be farther behind then ahead.

I tend to agree with the first two posts. Im sure there is someone that will help ya if need be. I had a similar experience with my Honda. Front CV Axle replaced by the delear was $500, now the other one is going out, actual price for part at AutoZone $60, and takes maybe an hour or so to install.

Its better to do it yourself or find some who can help.

I wished i could do it myself, but i live in a place where i cannot work on a vehicle.

I wished people would open up there garages out of friendlyness so i could do this. but we all know its not true.

I've actually grown lazy.. and not wanting to crawl around in snow/ice here in Alaska, and got both of mine replaced at the local gas station for 100 + 60 dollars parts. But I caught it in time I just needed the boots replaced but same time and labor either which way. Now I'm not going to get into it to far.. but who was the nimrod that decided to put CVs in a solid front axle?!

she probably wouldnt make it more than 3 miles. it leaks while it sits. and its a 99 with 52,00 on it. Thanks GM.

Its the same Nimrod that decided woman wanted a better ride in a truck. Look at dodge. They no longer offer a Solid Front axle in most of there truck unless the duallies. just sick!

Yeah the garage is handy....so is the friend who also has a garage and his own hoist. Rated at 8000 lbs - great to get stuff like that up in the air to work on. Also has a complete rig full of Snap On....watta hobby. Makes my computer fetish look cheap.

Your mechanic is HORRIBLY high. I just payed under $400 parts/labor and all for a head job. Thats with replacing the head......

No one offers a solid front axle on a truck anymore hardly. Dodge kept theirs the longest. God bless them for it too. But why for the love of god a CV joint instead of a regular U joint/open knuckle on my Jeep is beyond me. I have to replace boots every 2 years because I live in a cold climate. 3 boots, 1 actual CV.

theres actually a new Cornay open Shaft being introduced. No CV design. no boots. One of the ZR2.com members is test trialing them.

Exactly the same thing happened to me last week. Noticed glycol dripping. At the angle I could see the area, I couldnt see if it was the lower hose or the water pump. The hose and pump were over 10 years old, so I bought a new hose and pump, as well as a new thermostat and alternator belt. $65 later I was out the door. Three hours later I was up and running...
Youre telling me you got a quote of $500? Were you wearing a dress? Or holding up a sign saying "Chump"?

Word of warning people, ALWAYS go out and get a second opinion!!!
If you dont...well...come on over and I will help then.

I have lived in apts that didn't allow me to work on my rigs...just go down to the storage units, rent out a unit large enough to comfortable work on yer rig...2-3 bags of cat litter and a drip pan later, you'll save a bundle...

ford still offers the solid axle....and for a water pump easy...4.3 right? if so that is exactly 3/4 of a 350. you can buy a water pump for one of those ( will be cheaper) and replace it in about an hour....unless you have a body lift then you may want to pull the radiator. i have had a few S-10's (couple of small-block S-10's HEHEHE and a 351 ranger!!)

Autozone has them for 45 bones.......and you'll just need hand tools and a step stool (unless you are 6'+ like me....)

Yea, its a 4.3 HO

the 4.3 is basically a 350. alot of the same parts in it . only to cylinders hacked off the back.

the bore spacing is the same, but the main difference (besides the V6 vs.V8 thing) is the 4.3 has a split crank pin, meaning that the rod journals aren't parallel , there slightly stepped and because of that the rods and the mains are slightly narrower that a typical small block. but you can still make about 500 horse on a stock bottom end. (cant you tell where my passion lies? PC's are a hobby cars are my life)
