| I had 2 (not just the one, oh no...) TI-99/4A systems that might give you a run for your money. I remember my dad "upgraded" one of them and added 16k of memory. That was the one that had the built in modem. 800 baud of PURE DOWNLOADING MUSCLE. hee hee I love old computers... | ||

| WHAT?!? you'd best not be talking about my TI's....I'll slap you back to 1988! I wrote my very first game in TI-BASIC on those machines! sure it was simple because there was no harddrive and no way to save my work, but still! *harumph* better than his nasty 16 gray machine anyway...mine had colors... EDIT: another response, didn't feel like posting twice oh, so like the machine in my avatar? but i'm using masking tape, cuz it matches the beige-ness. Things that are masking taped: Monitor door Monitor stand Monitor volume wheel 2 drive covers on tower faceplate on tower webcam webcam feet keyboard...just about everything... yeah i'm driving this thing into the ground! one day, it just won't start back up, and i will bury it. until then, it's overwork, overclock, and pray. i'm just glad i haven't had to tape up any of the actual electronics yet, but i have my electrical tape by the tower just in case. | Old IBMs - back to the days of my first PC. IBM ps/1 - 486dx2/50 mhz of raw power - 8 mb of ram - 1 mb video memory and a 130 mb hard drive. I was the first person in my 3 town area to get a CD rom drive. Double speed - cost like $400 and was external with SCSI card. Talk about a bitch to configure. Also got a sound card as well - the first early days of multimedia computing. I still have a copy of DUNE that came with that drive. My cousin still plays it - the support for it under Windows XP is kinda dodgy......he cant get sound. I remember trying to upgrade that POS to a 540mb WD hard drive - called up tech support and they were like laughing at me on the phone. BIOS limits and all - no bid hard drive for me. Now its common for my to toss around 1.2 GB files like nuthin. I still have that PC laying around running Windows 95 - not well but its is running it. Then again did any computer ever run Windows 95 well? | ||

| C'mon man. Get with the picture. Everyone is using windows 3.1!!! I still boot up that comp every once in a while to play wolfenstein and breakout. Man, those were the days... Oh, and by the way, has anyone seen the skin for windows xp that looks and acts just like 3.1? I'm trying to relocate it and am having trouble finding it (I'm using windowsblinds by the way). | ||
