Default Fight with Akita (well, an Akita)

Went for a walk in the park today with my mutt... some gal's dog (a fairly big Akita) slips her hand and he's bookin' it my way. I stop, figurin' I best not entice him to chase us by runnin' and he decides to glom onto my dog... My mutt is a lab-springer mix who's edgin' up on 14 years old, so her fighting days are pretty well over, so she does try to haul ass, but I have her leash, not that I want her running off anyway.

Always wondered what I'd do in that situation... now I know... I friggin' booted that damn dog as hard as I could...

The Akita was solid muscle though, so my ankle hurts. Much like kicking a brick actually. I don't think I hurt him much, but I did manage to drive him back (kicked him about four times) and then I caught his leash when he dove after my dog again...

The lady apologized all over the place, I didn't respond (as I don't talk at all when my adrenaline is up...), her kid thanked me for catching their dog.

Glad my Ma wasn't walkin' my dog... that probably wouldn't have gone over quite as well...

Glad you two pulled thru ok Dark. Sounds like you did what you had to do to me...lol

On a similar note, I had a buddy kick a dog under the same conditions other than both owners holding their respected leashes. Apparently the lady owner wasnt strong enough to pull her dog away, so he was pulling his and kicking at hers.

He ended up in court and was found liable for the vet bills the ladies dog incurred.

People don't realize how powerful those dogs are when they are determined. Mine drug my wife halfway across a field on her ass once while he was chasing a rabbit. When he looked back and noticed her, he immediately dropped to the ground with his ears and tail down.
