| OK a question to you linus users.I have become very comfortable with XP.But on my latest build a MSI K8T neo2 with Athlon 64x2 3600+ on my spinner project.I would like to use my Linspire OS that I have and would like to know if it is similar to XP.I fooled around with it once before a little(very)on a dual boot install with windows awhile back but had boot issues. So I reformatted to XP only.Tell me your opinions please...jo | ||

| Linspire was the first Nix version I tried. Works ok I guess. I think you can find better Nix versions out there for a free download. Linspire wants you to pay for software. And no, it is not like XP, it is Linux! but for basic stuff like browsing the web, very easy. And the Nix will burn a cd better than XP. E | ||

| Xandros is very similar. They are windows migration techniques. They help windows users get into linux. The trick is, to make the complete jump, you need to unlearn windows techniques... So simply stated, a Ubuntu or really any distro works, just play with desktops (KDE is a windows-like desktop vs GNOME, more enterprise used, but just as easy I like it more IMO) I will suggest ubuntu, or kubuntu(the KDE derivative) Either that or Mandrive is a nice distro to merge with. I would suggest running a LiveCD before fully installing it. And definitely read a guide or two before installing. | ||

| I do look up to you opinion, being the linux king.I got this copy of linspire a while back for 10.00 with a tigerdirect order and thought it was meant to be a windows alternative since it was called lindows until microsoft sued them.Tell me which kubuntu download you would recommend for my build.jo | ||

| I'm no Linux King, but I know my fair share. Kubuntu is a livecd that you can just run. It's pretty kewl you got Linspire for cheap, but it still denotes the fact that linux is a free alternative to windows. if you go here, or here you can get Kubuntu for free download, burn a CD and bam test it out. | ||

| I'd suggest going with something other than Linspire. I bought a computer from Walmart for $200 (it was $200...) a while back and it came with Lindows. I played around it with a bit. At the time, it wasn't much of a segway into Linux as it was a Linux based Windows copy. | ||
