Well, I have had enough of random crashes. I gave the card the benefit of the doubt, but it just keeps on crashing. I might just go for it and get a 3870 for a replacement. No more Apollo stuff for me.

What system are you running?
What Video Driver are you using?
Is your card over Heating?

The system would be my main one. Temps... what temps, the card does not say... Everest has no temps on this card. Nothing...

DFI Ultra board with a dual core 3800?

Heck, I killed one of them with no video. Yep, I just have sound, but I can still shoot. So I would think that is a video problem.

Grab RivaTuner to measure temps, and make sure you set that fan at at least 50%. The 38xx series have very poor fan control - my 3870s overheat if I don't set the fan manually.

Install the app, and you should get a little sun in your system tray. Click on this, and then click the little arrow next to 'Customize...' To set fan control, you want to go to 'Low Level System Settings' and then to the Fan section. Set the fan to fixed and about 60%, and make sure to set Apply Fan Settings At Startup, and also Restore Fan Settings After Suspended Mode.

And to see the temps, click 'Hardware Monitoring'. If you want to show the temps in game, right click on the temperature graph and click setup, and then Show Core Temperature in Onscreen Display, and then Run Server.

Make sure you set the app to run at startup as well - this is in the 'settings' tab of the main window.

Definitely get those 7.12 drivers - I've noticed a decent performance improvement.

Thanks for the info. Got RivaTuner running, temps are around 41C idle, and jump to 57C during 3DMark 06. I think I have the fan setup to run %70. The drivers I have are version 8.442.0.0?? dated 12/4/07, looks like the 7.12 came out on the 20'th. The newer one will not install, I will mess with it when I have time.

Maybe there is hope for the card...

What PSU are you using?

PSU is an OCZ Game Stream 600W. Thing is crazy, will game for an hour, then randomly crash while browsing the web... I ran MemTest for around 9 hours, got one error in Test 4 Pass 17. Acts more like bad RAM or PSU is flaking out on me.

Just checked, both cores are EUE so Folding is down on this one. Any ideas on how to track down the problem? I think I will toss in the old GPU and see what happens.


Turn out I am just brilliant... Every time I do not check the simple things a simple thing breaks and gives me fits. I think I found the problem. North Bridge cooling fan is shot...
