Default Overlooking important stuff...ahhhh!

I have built a few PCs in the last year, I love the few minutes right before you press the power button for the first time......Im sick its true.

The ones I have built before have all been with motherboards I could see when I bought them - I mean phsyically hold them. Intel and Gigabyte motherboards mostly. This time I was building a PC for my sister and was going for cheap. The Intel motherboard I used in my PC worked great but it wasnt cheap enought so I hit Newegg.com and scoped out others. I ended up ordering an Asus P4BGL-MX for around $63....free shipping.

After all the other stuff came in I went to my mothers house today (yesterday now) to build the PC. To my horror I discovered the damn thing doesnt have a FRICKIN AGP slot.....ahhhhhh!!! Newegg no longer has this product on their website so I cannot check the specs or the picture - I have a good impression of Newegg so I can only assume I over looked it. However on the ASUS website the specs are correct but the pic is of another mobo that has AGP. They have the model number in the picture but still why would the do that - could confuse ppl. I guess Im just ranting here but it kinda pisses me off. Its my fault for not checking and double checking.......which I will do in the future.

Other than the AGP slot the build went fine and I guess if your a 13 year old girl you would like the PC. Its nuthin' fancy but it only has to instant messanger and watch DVDs......not exactly intensive computing.

I would have packed her up and shipped it back..spent 10$ more, and got the next step up...Just in case I needed to use as a backup test bench/gaming rig

What else did you put in there (CPU/Ram/PCI Video card)
Di ya try any benchmarks?

Nice lookin Pre-Mod case, Throw some cheap wire conduit in her, and maybe etch the window with some small Roses/Vines, and call her done!

I'm sure she's very happy , and could care less if it has AGP, PMS, or Borg technology...Long as she can chat while watching Britany Spears

Yep, that's the "vinegar strokes" of PC building all right

I wish I could say "nice rig", but it's not ... it's tidy for what it is though

She picked the case. At first I thought uhhh - but it didnt turn out to bad although the case is really cheap and flimsy. Blue is her favorite color. As for the innards....keep in mind cheap was a necessity.

ASUS mobo (without AGP..... )
Intel 2.0 GHz Celeron stock cooling
256 MB RAM Crucial
Western Digital 40 GB hard drive 5400 rpm
Lite-On DVD player/CD burner combo drive
USR 56.6K modem
on board sound, video and LAN

and of course the floppy...I just can let loose of these damn things, I just gotta put one in (even though I never use them)

The lighting is just a single blue cathode (cheapy from newegg) and 1 lighted fan.

This is the first time I used a stock heatsink and fan. That little piece of tinfoil is cheesy......does that work decent - looks like it would suck.
