| Alrighty, for christmas I have been wanting a Mp3 player. Ive been looking here and there and the Ipod keeps on showing up. So as of recently, I played tuba in a gig and got my 175$ out of it. So my mother maid the suggestion that if I donate 175$ to the cause she would fund the rest of the money needed for and Ipod. So, I think it would be a good deal but I would like to get a few other opinions. Thanks ahead of time! | ||

| The ipod is sweet lookin and has cool features..I have heard once the battery dies it costs $100+ dollars to replace it which is very expensive..I kno there are a lot of new mp3s players coming out very shortly that may be better and cost less then the ipod..I would wait and see what comes out and then if you still really wanted the ipod you could get it. | ||

| I was looking at the Ipod for awhile when i was in my hunt for a mp3 player. Hands down it is the best player but its price was a little daunting and i had recently heard about the battery issue. So i dug a little more and discovered a nice little player called the Nomad Zen. For the same price as the 10gig Ipod you could get a 30gig Zen. All of the reviews I have seen for it have been positive and placing it second in line behind the Ipod. The coolest thing about it though is that the harddrive in it is a 2.5" IDE Hard Drive. So instead of being stuck with apple's proprietary drive you could possibly upgrade your Zen with a larger drive further on down the road. On a side note my birthday's this wednesday and my twin sister purchased the Zen i had been looking at while i ordered her portable DVD player. Good Luck Edit: Aww hell my sig isn't working | ||

| http://www.nomadworld.com/products/jukebox_zen/ The sight lists only 20gig and 60gig version but i have seen both 30 and 40 gig versions at the local BestBuy. | ||

| www.nomadworld.com i have 20gb zen. its pretty durable (i've dropped it on the tile floor a few times) and has good sound quality. my only problem with it is the software. if u don't have all the tags on your audio files filled out it mixes everything up and makes finding tracks difficult. | ||

| i have a first gen ipod, and its not nearly as sweet as the new ones, but its been very durable. I heard rumors that the battery only lasts a year, but ive had mine for about 14 months now and no problems so far. Its kind of expensive, but hey, sometimes you get what you pay for. | ||
