Because you do not always have your protection enabled and think you do not need to worry too much about viruses.

Before you reformat...why not get a Virus Removal Tool? If they do not have one, then they ususally give you directions on how to get rid of it. Then scan your computer to make sure it is clean.

If you want it to stop happening then stop "forgeting to have norton antivirus installed" If nothing else it is worth the cost if you have to keep formating and reinstalling.

With the proliferation of virus' and bad programs on the net now, you cannot let your guard down. Chalk this reformat up to experience, bet you won't "forget" about having some protection next time.

Before you reformat do this --

Use the Intelligent Updater from Norton to manually get the latest virus signatures on there

Reboot into safe mode.

Do a complete virus scan until it is clean

Reboot into safe mode again and repeate

Boot into normal mode and do a full virus scan.

Make sure you do a search in your registry for any kind of .exe files. Typically the virii hang on in the system restore registry. I've been through this with my friend's machines, and usually reformatting isn't needed.

Bad luck 'bob ... but I think this is a case of making your own luck.

As BA already said, look on this as a learning experience ... & don't get caught out again

Future Tip: Get GoBack and forget about it bob.

The reason I suggest that drive reversion software over an antivirus program,
is because it uses 1% resources compared to Norton which uses around 25%,
and we all know how harmful that is to frame rates...

Install virus scanner this time man - I actually use AVG that you can download for free from www.grisoft.com. I install it on alot of computers, alot of people dont see the importance of virus scanners.
