Ok. What on earth happened with my Harry Potter/Dumbledore thread?

Firstly I read the books.

Secondly I have a friend who is gay, who I met when I worked at Tesco's. My girlfriend's best friend is a gay guy, and one of my longest childhood/family friends is also gay. In fact I know more gay folk than most people do! I have nothing against gay people at all and never said anything EVEN REMOTELY derogatory towards gay folk in that thread. Not once. In fact, I'm the first guy you'll find slapping the sh*t out of anyone who does something descriminatory against someone for their sexality, as I was there whilst said family friend battled with it all his school life.

The thread was interesting and related to a worlwide huuuuge book. It's not the sort of thing you hear announced about a children's book every day, and most people consider it big news, especially fans. I did not mean it in an even remotely negative way. It was just a thread. My lord I've seen people post far worse on these forums than a thread about how an author anounced a character of a popular childrens book to be homosexual...

I really am dissapointed man. I can't believe that anyone would over-react like that. Maybe it's because I've made some less appropriate threads in the past that you had such a huuuuge over-reaction, Digital_World, but you have my word, on my father's soul I meant no harm at all by that thread, and everyone else could see that but you.

Please both accept my apology for the misunderstanding, and re-open the thread.

This is like me making a thread to tell people I am gay, and you closing it because I'm mentioning the word 'gay' in a thread. I did not say anything bad about anything... just talking about something I thought was pretty big entertainment news - an iconic book character suddenly announced to be gay...

I'm sure if some huge movie star came out of the closet, and someone made a thread about it, you would not close it. So I assume it was a personal problem you have with me, which also dissapoints me.

I honestly meant no harm, bro.

I dont think he had a problem wiht you , so much as the comments made I.E *** Wizard etc etc .......... just kinda inflamitory ( IMO ) . As to reopening the thread , there is one already created about this topic/subject , so ...............................

The joke was a play on words...

If someone here posted a video link of someone walking into some wall or other inanimate object, would it be removed because they're laughing at someone's misfortune?

If I made a post with... I dunno... some comment about how I hated some rapper because all he did was talk about guns in ghetto-slang, would that be deleted and decided to be racist?

Maybe homosexuality is a sore-spot for Digi because someone he knows has been a victim of descrimination for his sexuality, so he just over-reacted, in which case I forgive him, we all make mistakes, but c'mon. Once it's established a mistake was made isn't it fair to accept my apology and reciprocate it, and maybe rectify the harsh reaction?

See? Is that not similar to what I did? A joke made on the subject of homosexuality yet not at all directed AT homosexuals in any negative way?

This really upsets me because I've been making a real effort not to say anything to p*ss anyone off around here, like I did with my anti-police brutality and anti-war threads (Digi, remember you said I should have more important things to worry about like war etc? I made anti-war threads and was nearly banned for it by some of the more patriotic members, so yeah you see where that got me...).

So I have been trying to be as well-behaved as possible taking special care not to say anything people might disagree with, so there is no way I would make any offensive remarks about gay people.

Id just leave it. While what you say is all very well and good, you must remember one fundamental truth.

Sadly so. Hence I'm not gonna argue even though I'm pretty mad that he would let off on me like that then just close the thread without even giving me a chance to explain. You can all think I'm an ass-hole hippie for being anti-bush and anti-war, but I cannot tolerate someone thinking I'm homophobic.

I guess if he really feels after this that my thread was some hate-filled 'I hate fags' type of thing then there's nothing I can say to convince him otherwise, but it's worth a try.

I got a lot of black friends, most of them I can say '*****' around, like "Whas crackin' *****?" jokingly and stuff, because they know I don't mean it offensively. How could I be racist if some of my closest friend are black? Exactly. However, you get some people who're all "YOU MUST NEVER USE THAT WORD EVAAAR!" I guess it's the same with some of the more uptight gay folk. I wouldn't be bothered if a gay guy made a joke about me being straight, or if one of my black mates made a joke about me being white? Unless I knew they were trying to be malicious, in which case I'd be annoyed, but I'd still not kick up a fuss.

People get ripped on for all kindsa stuff. I bet people here have made comments about fat people before for example! And did they get banned or their threads get closed?

Over the past few days I have read more threads about you complaining or being upset about something. It really is getting annoying and is quite useless. Stop arguing with everyone and listen to what the moderators are saying. All of those threads are simply reflecting bad on PCAPEX and the good nature of this site.

If you need a place to complain go make a blog but please stop crapping all over the forums here. It isn't doing anything but angering everyone else and destroying the typically friendly community here.

there really isn't any room for joke posts on moral subjects. Even if you direct
it at a good friend who understands, someone will read it the wrong way. I'm
actually in the dark on the post in question. But I know Lokie has all of our best

What have I complained about here in the last few days? Pick out one complaint I made about someone or something that wasn't neccessary.

Typically I try to be as friendly and helpful as I can be, but I can't stop being myself. It wouldn't be natural to force myself to be all nice and sickly sweet all the time. I AM ONLY HUMAN. Humans get angry, jealous, annoyed, inpatient, snappy, paranoid, defensive. We all get upset sometimes, and when I do, it's not like I walk around cursing at everyone, I don't get violent, threatening, rude, and I don't start insulting people, which I've had plenty of (rude insults I mean) from high-posting members for whom the mods seem to turn a blind eye. Yet still I don't get in a huff, when I feel something is wrong I try to talk about it in an overly-calm fasion, yet it just seems to cause me more peoblems. I just voice my problems/opinions politely. I think that's what annoys people. If I was rude they'd have an excuse to ban me, but when I defend myself subtly and articulately in a friendly manner, people seem to get annoyed more... It confuses me and I don't really understand why it happens. I was always taught to treat others as you'd expect them to treat you, but it doesn't always work like that.

You would have been flamed no matter which thread you would have posted your comments in.

If you really want to apologize to Digi then just pm him.

i think everyone should stop advising Mr. Fiddles. He's obviously learned the reason that the thread was closed and doesn't need to hear whatever he did wrong from a bajillion different people. and wtf is up with the nasty post up there by cpt. planet. I donno if i'm diggin that so much even if Mr. Fiddles is a less known member that''s not cool.
