Ohio Penitentiary Fire - Ohio History Central - A product of the Ohio Historical Society

Ohio tire fire, Aug 21, 1999 which got a LOT of press in its time....

One's a suspected arson, the one in Malibu is a downed power line, and the others are to hot for investigators at this time.

Sickly orange sunlight, the smell of burnt wood, and of course the layers of ash everywhere. It's pretty damn nasty here.

It could be worse... Hope everything goes well for all of you out there....

We had asshats where I lived in kentucky who have nothing better to do durring the dry season than to start forest fires all over the county... one of them did it by flinging flamming roles of TP off the back of a truck driving down my road... Idiots... But it is a nasty nasty bit of business those fires...

advantage of living in Seattle. we only burn june - august the rest of the time its raining =)

i feel for the people down there. Our state has been sending firetrucks and firefighters to help out.

the scariest thing i have heard is they have more houses on fire then they have people fighting it.

my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims.

hopefully insurance helps.

I live in Portola Hills/Trabuco Canyon, where the Santiago Canyon fir is. It actually burned as close as two block from my house. We evacuated last night, but I came back this morning. The fire burned in sort of a crescent shape around my neighborhood, jumped Santiago Canyon Road and proceeded to head towards Saddleback Mountain. The air quality is pretty bad, everything smells like a camp fire and there is ash everywhere.

I heard it was started by someone OC'ing and they found a remote that they believe goes to a spinner near the scene.

We just got a hour of rain today, THANK GOD, it's the most rain i've seen in the last 4 months.

Its a shame that a lot of people lost homes and such just because one person has not morals or scrupels . If they catch him , I say soak him in gas an toss a match at him . Live by the sword kinda deal

Did they say they Suspected Arson? The way they are saying it makes it seem like the heat did this, and because of some 30 year drought period.

LINK

Only the one in Orange County (The icon near Irvine) is a confirmed arson, others are from power lines or are being investigated.

I just got word:

My uncle, my sister and her family have all evacuated. My uncle didn't even get to take anything from his house since they evacuated him while he was at work.

If you google maps or yahoo maps the following address, the fire basically went around the complex that I live in before jumping Santiago Canyon Rd. The fire came from the West and... well attached is basically the burnt area bordered in red. The fire misses my condo complex by a road...

18956 Canyon Hill Drive, Trabuco Canyon CA 92679

I also have some pictures but am unable to get them off my camera at the moment. I was able to sleep at home last night and got about 6 hours of sleep, the previous two nights I only got about two hours each night.

It sucks
