| I need some help I am ready to buy a new Mobo but don't know which one to choose, i am pickinhg between the Abit Kv7 and the Abit Nf-7 here are the overviews from the Abit site The NF7-S, based on nForce2 chipset (MCP-T + SPP), supports the latest AMD Athlon XP processors with 200/266/333/400 FSB, (400 FSB support in version 2.0 only) and features new dual 400MHz DDR memory controllers that deliver up to a 50% increase in bandwidth. With the nForce2 MCP-T, the APU (Audio Processing Unit) delivers Dolby Digital 5.1 cinematic-quality sound and 3D positional audio to your home PC. By SoundstormTM technology, the NF7-S supports Real-time audio encoding delivering up to 256 simultaneous audio streams makes games and applications come to life. With cutting-edge features and ABIT Engineering, the NF7 series is the ultimate multimedia platform for the world. http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/...ries=1&model=6 The KV7 is the next generation of high-performance motherboards for AMD CPUs. The KV7 series uses VIA's newest KT600 chipset to bring the latest in technology to the AMD platform. The KV7 series supports AMD Athlon XP, Athlon and Duron 400/333/266 MHz CPUs for superior performance, and offers full support for DDR 400. ABIT provides users with 6-channel sound and S/PDIF Out for enhanced audio performance. With full support for AGP 8X, USB 2.0 the KV7 series allows users to connect to today's hottest peripherals. http://www.abit-usa.com/products/mb/...es=1&model=125 I really didn't know where to post this so plz if there is a better place let me know ![]() | ||

| Are you trying to save money or just get the best board? The KT600 is a good chipset, and nearly matches Nforce benchmarks, but I am unsure of its overclocking capabilities, but they should be decent. The NF-7 is the king for Overclocking as of the moment, with modifications it can reach a 500FSB, and 440FSB out of the box Are you planning the regular NF-7 Or the NF-7S with Sata drive? If you can afford it, get the Sata! Hands down everyone here will say NF-7, someone even posted a poll | ||

| Well the reason i would go with the nf7 is it has soundstorm. Duel channel ddr is great and all but my kt6 delta scores just about as high on benches as a nforce 2 mobo.. Soundstorm is great technology and you will not need a audigy card to get the audigy sound. What are the price differences? | ||

| THe Kv7 is going for 79.99 on newegg right now The Nf7-s is going for 106.99 also on newwegg Both have free shipping right now the Nf7-m is 104.99 free shipping The Nf7 is 81.99 Also free shipping i don't think i would ever get the kv7 if the regular nf7 ius better and only 2 bucks more but what about the Nf7-s is it really worth 106? ![]() | ||

| Sata drives are great for speeding up game level load times, but none of the currnet games realy bog a computer down enough to realy notice a difference. Doom 3 and games in the future may benefit from this, but its not a huge deal waiting 3 seconds longer (a guess) for it to load. IDE hard drives are 5400rpm ATA 100, and 7200rpm ATA 133. SATA hard drives are 7200rpm and ATA150, with certain ones like the Raptor, scream at 10,00rpm! Sata drivesare very close to SCSI hard drive performance (Expensive$$) without killing your bank account. ATA 100,133 and 150 are numbers that describe the theoretical transfer speed of data, but those numbers are rarely reached in real world situations. ATA 100=100MB of data transfer per second ATA 133=133MB/Sec ATA 150=150MB/Sec There is cost to consider, SATA is great if you can afford it, but not neccesary on a budget.. I am very happy with a Maxtor 7200RPM ATA 133 hard drive, they are about 60$ for a 40 gig, a 7200RPM Maxtor SATA 80 gig is 88$, and is a good midrange hard drive. A Western Digital 10,00RPM Raptor 36gig is 122$...Speed costs, How fast do ya wanna go? ![]() | ||

| Ok Thanx Everyone i think i will stick to the Nf7 the SATA and firewire option sounds really nice but the fact is i have no money for firewire devices nor can i afford a SATA HD right now unless this SATA drive is a dramatic increase in performance i will be purchasing the regular Nf7 | ||
