| Apex Techie Lite | I requested a Sony Motherboard Manual for my Sony computer and here is their reply: Thank you for contacting Sony Online Support. As a matter of general public safety Sony does not make our service manuals available to anyone except our licensed, authorized service centers. For your own safety Sony strongly advises you not to open your product casing for any reason. In many of our products, dangerously high voltage remains in the system circuitry long after the unit has been disconnected from all power sources. For other products, our internal design and engineering data is both proprietary and confidential. Maintaining the security of this type of information is instrumental to our success as a business entity. If your product's service manual is not limited by one of the two issues above, the manual will be available for purchase from the Sony Direct Accessories and Parts Center (DAPC) website below. Their site will be able to provide you with the correct part number, current price, shipping terms and availability: TIP: If you are unsuccessful to locate the manual you need online, or have any other purchase questions, please contact the DAPC at: Thank you for the opportunity to be of assistance. Your Sony Email Response Team Then they followed up with a survey on how well they provided the requested help. Lol-you can imagine my response. | |

I'm trying to replace as many things as possible. The mobo is a P4 2.8, so not too bad. Looking at getting a Raptor HD, and I already have a replacement case (one that actually has airflow, and even fans - features Sony hasn't quite figured out incorporate yet). But am running into some challenges before transferring all the guts. My new case doesn't have a firewire port. Thought I could just dremel a hole, but after inspecting the Sony, I now see that the firewire circuit is incorporated with the 2 front USBs on a single board. So I'll have to keep the 3 together as one unit. But on the replacement case there is no room to add a hole for the firewire next to the 2 existing USB ports. I may have to relocate them on the front of the case somewhere. I suspect I will run into similar problems on the back of the case too...

instead of contacting sony for the motherboard manual. just look for whatever numbers the mobo has printed on (serial numbers that is) and google it up .... im sure you can find their OEM provider .... i mean, is not like sony uses proprietary motherboards anyways ![]()
