Help?

I'm not quite sure if I have a virus or if my PC is just acting funny.

Recently (i.e. this afternoon) I couldn't open my display options totally, I could left click and open the first tab but I couldn't get into the advaced options area.

Also CTRL + ALT + DEL does absolutly nothing.

So, what do you pimps think? Virus or none?

note: I know its dumb but I dont run a virus checker, no real reason. I just dont like them.

man you have a big prob there, i havent ever heard of a problem like that

Yea, with every virus I've had (a few

) they've just slowed stuff down or locked my PC up, never have some things been just disabled like that

Any chance that the Caty 3.9 drivers are to blame?

I'm thinking it could be a virus b/c I've been trying to DL Max Payne 2 no-cd stuff with no luck

Sounds like a virus to me. You can hit either Symantec's or Mcaffee's site to do a free online virus scan.

Well, that's not good.

I've seen full-on booter viruses come off P2P before. There's more than just the illegality factor as to why I don't use that stuff...

klez virus symptoms, when you try to get into task maneger what happens?

Ya sounds like a virus...look in msconfig and see if any strange progs are running on startup...also if you can do a virus scan.

you may need to get a freeware virus program like nortonprogram unless you are willing to buy norton

When I go to run then do msconfig is says cancelled to to admin restrictions on my PC... definatly got a virus...

Now I just hope my movies arnt corrupted b/c it'll be a bitch to get em back...

Time to re-formant, see yall in a few days

oh and task manager wont even open....

Dont reformat...just get a antivirus prog on there and remove it...save you the hassle of reformatting and losing all your movies.

Do the online scan. When It finds the virus go to symantec.com and look for the virus removal tool. They have um for the most common ones. If not you can usually find manual ways to remove it by doing a search. We do it all the time here at work.

wait!!! if taskmaneger wont open then it looks a lot like klez go to google and search klez removal and there is a little program that i think norton put out that will remove it. i got the same some and that sounds a lot like what happend to me. try that before formatting!!!
