Default Is "Bling Bling" Dead?

I don't know about you guys, but when Corprate marketing starts using terms like "Bling Bling", it seems to lose the "Kewl" factor

Today at work FCN news (Ford Corprate News) had a section called "Bling Bling"....and I started LMFAO

They were showing off how hip and trendy they are, pointing out how the new models for 04 have special features to appeal to the youth, like stainless steel accents on the new Navigator.
They also showed a few Focuses with the "Rice Burner" spoilers and ground effects

Is it just me, or does it make you run the other way when Corprate America tries to be hip?

It reminds me of the 40 year old bald dudes trying to dance in the nightclubs filled with 20 year olds...

Necro... LOL!

Dude, you should watch "Daria".

Teen magazine Ditz: "Daria, tell your father what edgy is!"

Daria: "Edgy is when middle-aged corporate types decide to appear dangerous and out of control when everything they do is the product of market research and a master plan."

I always keep the same set of "words" I use... they've all gone out of date, so hey... what the hell, they'll become trendy for awhile again, then they'll disappear and I'll still be
usin' terms like "Catch you on the flip side", "Cool" or "Bitchin"...

Who knows... my version of slang may make it popular:

Money = "Cash", "Green", or "That stuff I remember fondly"

Cool = "Cool", "Kicks ass", "Shweet" (as done like Starvin' Marin off South Park).

Hello = "Hey"

Goodbye = "Catch you on the flip side"

Hello, I think you're attractive and I'd like to take you out = "Let's (Censored)!" (j/k)

I mostly say them when I am trying to be silly with my kids, cracks them up to hear the old man "Slingin the Slang"

BTW, Daria couldn't have explained it better, she hit it right on the head

Waddup Dawg, Thats how I greet almost everyone I see, including my boss and ch1x0rz. Its pretty funny coming from a 28 year old white guy, puts everyone in a good mood immediatly. Probably because they are laughing at me behind my back.

I absolutely agree that "the bling has blung" ... just like every other two week fad these days.

Edit: It is also time that this izzy and izzle business stopped as well.

Did anyone realize that “bling bling” was created by a rap group who got rich by “rapping” about how rich they are? And that they got rich by saying how rich they are and how if you do drugs and drive nice cars you can be rich too?
ah the marketing department

Maybe it's just me, but anyone saying "bling-bling" or "--izzle or --izzy" sounds ****ing retarded as hell doing so. No one makes it sound cool or slick....no one. It makes me laugh out loud anytime I hear it. And then when they ask me what's so funny it just makes me laugh even harder. Ghetto slang ranks right up there with some of these girls who feel its necessary to inject the word "like" after every 2 or 3 words in a sentence on the annoyance scale.....which happens to be right under Carrot Top, the Dell guy, and Rake Yohn.

That is so true so much of today's crap is a result of market research. I would know, it's what I do, geez some of the surveys we run are soooooo stupid.

I just wish that our community would show the intelligence that is actually represented. There is a lot of talent in our community; from 15 year old kids on through 50 year old kids. None of the modders are stupid, they only sound stupid.

Proper language and grammer only enhances a person's chances for success. Ask a 9th grade dropout what their opportunities are, then ask the same from a college graduate.

Tell you what, I can give you both answers.

Well I for one HATE Ford. And it doesn't surprise me there trying to incorporate youthful terms into there sales. There just trying to save a sinking ship and BTW if your looking into buying cheap stock Ford is at an all time low, but why go down with the ship? Another point of Ford's stupidity is in there foreign car market. In one of the AutoWeek magazines I get they debuted a Jaguar Hatchback, Wagon, Crossover (or whatever you want to call it). And the person that was writing the article drove home the point when he said it just "left people scratching their heads." With that said I say death to ford.
