Default It is our fault, not Microsoft

An interesting story I found at Anandtech.com

Bill Gates is on the defensive again as he states that the recent security problems with Microsoft operating systems could have been prevented if users had actually kept their machines up to date:

The chief software architect (CSA.'.) told IT Business that perfect code wasn't the answer to security problems, but firewalls and keeping the software up to date were more important.

The problems that have occurred this year wouldn't have happened if firms and individuals had set up their software probably.

He also claims in the article that Microsoft has always had security patches out before the exploits happened.

If I'd ever paid for any M$ software I'd be really offended though

there is reports that one of the security patches definately slows down machines. I uninstalled it on my wifes laptop and she quit complaining to the IT department (me) about her computer being slow. I'll post which one it is when I get home. It prevents people with physical access from the machine from hacking in.

EDIT: Im in complete agreement with English.
