| Well I got a iPhone today, I wasn't going to get one because I couldn't afford it but I cam upon some money (im saving this story for later because it is part of a bigger story I will post later ) so I got one, I have to say I love it, everything works great and the keyboard isnt as hard to use as some people thought it might have been. And EDGE is pretty fast, it loads this sites home page in 10-11 seconds. Sure its not as fast as 3G but I think it was a good hand off for longer battery life. If you got any questions about it im here to answer them | ||

| Congratulations!! I truly hope that your iPhone lives up to the hype. I'm sure you've read all the hype/anti-hype and the only concern I can imagine is that the iPhone (i think??) doesn't support the much faster AT&T 3G network? I think that's what it's called. Supposedly that's where the data "flows" nice and quick and iPhone users (as the flood of users are added to the network) will experience a significant slowdown with any data transfer based applications (ie: everything other than the phone functionality) because they're limited to the inferior AT&T data transfer network. I'm just taking a stab at the specifics but the general idea is that the web surfing/streaming is going to significantly slow down VERY quickly. I'm definitely not dumping on your purchase. I believe it was very forward thinking of you to grab one at the onset. I wish you the best experience possible!! I'm planning on buying a MacBook Pro 17" in the next 6-7 months so I DEFINITELY support Apple. Please keep us abreast of your experiences with this new technology. I'm looking forward to your updates. -hartigan | ||

AT&Ts 3G network is not very widely deployed, only a few major cities, this was one of the reasons they left it out of this rev of the iPhone, the european model has it. EDGE is much slower than 3G, but the iPhone has built in 802.11g and switches to that from edge automatically when its within range. I havn't heard about the network slowdown thing, but thats probably just FUD since i'm sure other smart phones using EDGE still outnumber the iPhone 10 to 1. I want an iPhone pretty bad, but i think i'll wait untill the 2nd or 3rd gen, which, given the speed of advancement in the cell phone market, should probably be by next year. Getting a MacBook as soon as i can afford one though.

| Thanks to iPhone buyers like you, the network was out for a while yesterday!! Just kiddin' tho as I seemed to connect to the network with my new Razor (I'm always 2-3 years behind the "latest" technology) with no problem while people kept coming into the AT&T store every 5 minutes complaining. How could AT&T not expect such a slow-down?And I couldn't stop playing around with the iPhone in the store! It is truly a wonderful phone. So enjoy it and keep us informed with pics and updates! | ||

| yea ill get some photos up later but here are some answers to the questions your asked, Tonight I will post about some problems I found with it and other things. 1.Im paying $30 a month for 500 mins talk time and unlimited data, im on a family plan so I was only paying 9.99 before, so im paying a extra $20 for the unlimited iPhone data plan. 2. Last night edge was pretty fast, and its not like im in a big city, I live in the suburbs about 20 miles out of LA, but I was able to load the home page in about 10-15 secs and the forum in 20. But ill be on the road all day today so Ill tell you how that goes. 3. Last night the phone did get a little boring but just because everything I could do on the phone I could do on my desktop or laptop that was only several feet from me, but Ill see how it fairs in the real world today 4. Here is one picture, I will upload more tonight! Any pacific things you want pictures taken of? ![]() | ||

That guys so dumb, he sees a microphone and a 600 dollar phone and he goes for the mic. Yea it was pretty crazy yesterday too, but it was all really unnecessary. I got to mine a little more than a hour before it opened and I got one no problem, there was no need to wait out there all week, also most apple stores still have them in stock. The Apple store I went to had more than a 1000 and it wasn't even a very busy apple store. Edit: I tested my speed on my iPhone with this http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed?jisok=1 and got 134 kb/s on edge Last edited by Supersteve9219; 30-June-07 at 05:41 PM..

| Mobile speed test 700 kbit/sec 0.743s latency 12.033s d/l time.again. That's what I just got on my cingular 8125 as I type this from my phone (It's on my wifi though) My question is instead of saying the iphone doedn't squish the page into the screen size, can't they just say it depicts the webpage easily. My 8125 has 'Desktop' mode in the view settings so I can view the page accurately to size. This whole post was typed on my phone, I thought it would have been much harder, but it was surprisingly easy. | ||

I think they guy was just sqrewing with the media but i may be wrong, as when i took meterology in school (science credit, no i don't want to be a weatherman) we went to the local news/ weather station (our teacher was a weatherman) we got to play with some of the gear. A few mics they had cost several grand and the cameras where up to 8k a pop.

Ill have to try the test on WiFi, but I had a Motorola Q and it used the same OS as your phone and it had desktop view also, most of the time pages loaded correctly but on sites like digg the whole page would be all messed up. It seemed that any site that wasn't very simple wouldn't load right on that phone, maybe it was just because the Motorola Q sucked. UPDATE: I got 1856 kbit/sec over wifi, and I have the backwards image to prove it! ![]() Last edited by Supersteve9219; 02-July-07 at 09:18 PM..
