Default An App A Day... Interesting...

OK, Well I was looking for an app that would dynamically trasistion the desktop background according to the time of day... Basically the same image only it gets lightened or something.. or maybe a long set of images you could download for it that would be like the sun riseing and such... well.. in my search I found this and thought it was post worthy...

Google Wallpaper
The application will then randomly pick a keyword, search google images (high quality only), randomly choose an image from the first page of results, and set it as your desktop. It'll then wait for the interval you set and repeat the process.

From what I can tell this guy designed and coded one app a day for 30 days.... Kinda interesting but I dont think I would want to try that.. lol

You can see more HERE

Another interesting entry from this guy...

Input Prank
This application runs silently in the background, and screws with the keyboard input. Typically I do a screen shot, but in this case, there is nothing to screen shot. Instead I'll write the pledge of allegiance below, with the args 20 10 2 passed to the application:

ŸI!pledge alegiance to the flg,"of te unjed states of amekca.# ╰And# o he rrepubic, ffor wwhich it stnds one ation, UgE GOD, with libey, aandjustie for aall

It has 3 different styles of achieving this prank:
Replace - replaces the pressed character with a psuedo-random replacement.
Consume - consumes the pressed key (does not get pressed).
Repeat - repeats the pressed key.

This application should be run from the console, and running with no args provides a brief help box. It's named "ankey.exe" so it won't look too obvious in task manager. You can rename it anything you'd like (but the Utils DLL must remain the same). The three args are the settings above. Run it with 500 500 500 to really trick people into thinking that their keyboard is broke. Run it with 20 10 2 to piss people off completely - but they'll know something is up!

And another.....

QuickKill
The application will quickly kill all tasks not listed in a configuration file. This can be used for a variety of reasons: saving battery life on laptops, easy performance increase, "gaming mode", etc... Bottom line is, it'll get rid of everything you don't need very quickly.

Some may argue that you should use a program such as HijackThis to stop these things from starting in the first place. While that is the solution for things that you NEVER want running, this application is more specific to killing off the things you won't need right now. Things like sql server, virus scan, bluetooth, and various other background tasks that you won't need for your "gaming mode".

I've preconfigured the file with all of the critical processes that were on my machine, so it includes all of the obvious WinXP necessities.

It's a console application - no gui, just nice and clean. This was to make it batch scriptable with command line args, and nice and simple to use.

The application WILL ask for your confirmation before it kills the tasks. You're presented with a list of what will be killed, and asked to press 'Y'. For batch scripting, a "-q" parameter will supress this warning and just autokill. Run the program with a "-?" for the other option (exemption file override).

ROFL... Like that did ya?

Actually I hardly do pranks but those I might just have to try... Even the google wallpaper one would make for a good prank if you could hide it and do a search for something provocative with safe search turned off..
