Anyone do Work Study Program?

In spirit of my continuing trend of asking random questions, I'll ask another!

I just got accepted to Rutgers, New Brunswick (tell me if you have heard of it!) and just got my financial aid back, and it includes an amount from the work study program. Now, I did a little googling and found out that it has to be atleast minimum wage and not much else. Are all the wages you earn in the job go towards the award or is the award dependent upon the fact that you simply do work?

Work study is basically the government paying you to do some company's work. It costs the company nothing except for the time they spend training you. I think all of what they pay you can be work study up to w/e amount you recieved from the government.

My gf has $2000 workstudy which means a place can employ her and basically get $2000 of free work off her for giving her a job.

I'm going to be a work study. But its based on my life and over acheivement goals. Althoughim paid minimum wage, its worth it in my aspect because i only have to go to my school 4 hours early (7 instead of 11) and get paid to follow teachers and learn tons of nifty stuff. Plus we get to do projects (F@H is on my list) with the schools computers (certain labs 30-40 PCs, not the 200 computer labs). To top it all off, i'm getting the linux nerd teacher, a definate plus.

Did a work release program once. No pay, but it was nice to see daylight...

Work Study? Oh, never mind...

That's what I have, $2000, do you know if my money earned in the work goes towards that $2000? I'm lost as to where the $2000 comes in...

The first $2000 you earn will be all work study money after that, they company is actually paying you.

Ya I'm on work study too. It's great because as long as your money is "work study" money, it's tax free!! I make 10/h at the two campus jobs I work at, and I think I might get a raise at one of them next year. Campus jobs are pretty laid back and sweet.
