First glance, I'd say you should be able to at least hit 3.0GHz. But that's just my first reaction. I'm sure others will have better input. Good Luck!! -hartigan | |||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Not being an owner of an AM2, i hesitate to provide advice but I can suggest some good sites where there is information: EXTREME Overclocking - Tweaking PC Hardware To The Max XtremeSystems.org :: Computing without limits!!! www.i4memory.com and of course, check out the Overclocking section of our site right here: pcApex Overclocking Forum A google search will also provide some great sources for information to aid you in overclocking the AM2 platform. Half the fun is sorting through all the information and finding what you need. It's the best way to learn A LOT. As I said before, GOOD LUCK!! -hartigan | ||

| AM2 overclocking is jsut about the same as S754/S939 overclocking but this guide should help: Overclocking on the 754/939 Platform - Guide - Short-Media Basic rule to follow for AMD overclocking: Increase the HTT/FSB. Keep the HTT at or under 1000MHz (2000MHz effective) by adjusting the HTT multiplier. Use a memory divider if your memory doesn't overclock well. When you hit an overclocking wall increasing the CPU voltage helps. | ||

| Water Cooling is nice but you won't need it unless you just want it. There are plenty of good air cooled heatsinks out that will get you to the 3 GHz mark or close. The question is how much space do you have around the cpu and how much can you spend? All your good options are gonna be in the $30 + range. And you'll probably need to get a good fan for it, another $10 or $15. Some good choices come with fans though :-) | ||

| See alot of people will say zalman all the way but im going to say NO! Ive owed them ALL! And im going to tell you that in my opintion ThermalRight is by far the winner! The XP 90 is GOD! Match it with a 92MM tornado and you got the perfect match! 90% of the time the fan wont even come on if you got a nice amount of fans in your rig to toss air around when you got the fan running on the board with the auto fan controller running it! When the fan stops on the Xp 90 you know the sink is just kicking some AZZ!!And just to say if you dont clean your rig alot and the fan gos on the zalman you down for days! For zalman to send you one or buy one that fits inside there little sink flower things! LOL , ANY thermalright Toss a fan out of the box on it, 90% of thermalright sinks fit anysize fan Matt | ||

| I like ThermalRight 2. I own 3 XP120's but there all hooked to P4's. I had a X2 4800 that ran cool as ice with a Scythe Mine. I now have it hooked to a C2D E6300 and it runs cool 2. I'm fixing to test it out on a C2X6800 Friday. Here's a link. It's big but effective and versatile :-) Scythe "Mine" Heat Pipe CPU Cooler Rev. B (SCMN-1100) - FrozenCPU.com | ||
