Default AMD 3700 San Diago needs a new home..

Well, I want a better mobo for overclocking this CPU. Any suggestions? I currently have an ASRock duall sata board. Not a bad board, but I am having problems, and have around $140 to spend on a new board. I have a PCI x16 video card, and DDR 2x512 RAM.

What would you toss this CPU in?

Thanks for your time.

Ultra-D FTW... I used one for about a 7 months, no complaints.

I've owned my ultra-d for about 3 months, best board ever. And such an awsome price.

Got the board in tonight! Too late form me to do much more that look at it. Looks nice. What RAM do you recomend for this board, I am getting confused. I would like to have 2GB, but can live with 1GB if it overclocks better. I found some OCZ that was recommended, but the Egg is out of stock. Any suggestions for RAM? I had a really bad experience with Corsair, so would prefer to stay away from them, but I am open to suggestions.

I am bad about finding really 'great' overclocking RAM and then finding out it does not work too well.

Have a good one, and thanks for the help.

I recommend this memory
Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

I have been using it on the motherboard you just bought for a while. I usually run it at 270mhz(DDR 540) 24/7. With more tweaking I could probably get it even higher.

Looks nice, I was looking at it also, but it is out of stock! Looks like Newegg is a little short on DDR ram, so I may wait and try the system with my current OCZ 3500 ram.

Thanks for the info!

Well, I waited for my current WU to finish, then starting instsalling this bad boy. I would like to say before I started, I checked my PSU cable connecter, realized I have a 20 pin, not a 24 pin, and ordered a new power supply early this week. Well, I am sure you can guess how this is going. Dang, my best wire management job yet (though still poor to what I see on the site). Oh well, I am back up on the old board for now. If you were in the South Central part of the USA and thought you heard Homer Simpson yell "Doohhh" around 4:00, that was me!

Well, I am off to shop for a new PSU. It is about time for a new one anyway, and I got some cash, so no big deal. Just thought some of you might find it amusing!

Have a good Holiday weekend!

The best ram you can get for it would have the legendary Winbond BH-5 chips under the hood!

I had 2x256 Kingston Hyper X PC 3000 (DDR360) that would run at 270+ with 2-2-2-7 timings with 3.6v!

That board was BUILT with BH-5 in mind, it was the first board around to allow over 3.2v to the ram without mods!

The majority of the custom bioses available for it are "Tuned" with it in mind.

Check with s1ugh34d for specific settings in the bios and the version i was using, he is now the proud owner of my former 3D-05 ORB top ten rig's motherboard and ram

OCZ has a new version of BH-5 they used called "Winbond UTT" or something like that, it was available in 2x512.

ACE123 had some for sale a bit ago in the trader section, he might still have it, drop him a pm, or ill ask him over msn if u want.

If you are building this for gaming..ignore BH-5 and get 2GB of Samsung based TCCD ram, that can do 300FSB or more if need be, and will be better than 4 sticks of BH-5

(You can only use 2T timings with 4 sticks, and that kills performance alot over using 1T command rate, though you can always pull 2 sticks for benching when your not gaming...lol)

Thanks for the info. The 600 Watt one from OCZ I am thinking about getting is on the list.
