Question Abit NF7-S OCing

At what point in OCing the Abit NF7-S does one start to need to bump up the Voltages on the Chipset and AGP cores?

When it is no longer stable on default voltages. The less juice you can get away with the better.

I guess I should be a little more specific on this one...

Should those voltages be bumped only after I exceed 200 FSB or pretty much just anytime/anywhere?

Right now I just got my 1700+ up to 200X10 at 1.625 Vcore, all other cores are stock settings...

what i do is, oc it to where i want it, run sisoft sandra burn in wizard and watch what part of test it fails at if it fails during cpu test, up cpu voltage, if it fails during memory test, up mem voltage, works good for me.

I read somwhere that ATI cards should have thee voltages bumped up a bit to make everything smoother.
I went up on mine a couple notches from stock and run with no pobs ever.
I have the NF7-s and a barton 2800 w/ the 9700 pro.
P.S. Chipset I went up at least 1 notch as well.
Runnin 210 x11.

Just an FYI here is what I am running...

XP1700+
Corsair TWINX 3200LLPT
Abit NF7-S
ATI 9500 Pro

I don't memory will be a problem as it is running at stock FSB as far as what the memory can handle.

Right now I have it running Prime95 with settings of 200x10.5 1.7Vcore, 1.7VChipset. I'm at work right now so it's a perfect time to do stability testing with Prime95.

This lil $50 CPU has me impressed to say the least!

EDIT: I'll be posting an Excel spreadsheet/worklog with OC results for anyone interested or working on a similar OC project...

Feral, i've read where alot of people have been having problems with the 10.5 multi with certain Bios versions.
you might look into the NFORCEHQ forum theyve got a wealth of info there about OC with the nforce 2.

ive also had problems with the 10.5 multi, it wont post when i set it to that, i can set to 11.5 alright, anything higher and its not stable with the high fsb i have it running at, 1.775 is a good voltage, i think it might be alittle to high so ima try 1.75 when i get home from school, my machine is runnin kinda hot, and i got a new silent boost hsf from thermaltake, so it shouldnt be that high, weird....

Well, seems I have found my CPU's max FSB... 203! No matter what I do, when I put it to 204 and save and exit the BIOS, no post, just beeeeeeeep beeeeeeeep beeeeeeeep infinity

Still have testing to do for stability and what not but I think the PSU is the problem for that. I notices on both SANDRA and the monitoring software for the NF7-S that when I hit refresh while looking at the Vcore it jumps around as much as .04 Volts! So if I set the Vcore to say 1.75 it moves around from 1.76 to 1.72 volts. If this is accurate, this PSU is not for OCing... It is the 500W one that came with the X-Super Alien case.

I'm going to swithc it out with the PSU I will ultimately be using when I am finished working on my LL PC-70 case mod and see how stable the voltages look with it.

Try running your ram async @ 204MHz (408DDR) just to see if its the bottleneck. Yep, thats highly unlikely, but its good to know your systems bottleneck.

Got her to do 33 hours of Prime95 without a hitch at 200x10.5 Vcore 1.82 Vmem 2.7 Vchipset 1.7 now. Prime95 now torture testing @ 203x10.5 now with the same voltages as above. Its been running for about 18 hours now and no probs.

I had it @200X11 doing Prime pretty well but it locked up when I inserted my USB pen drive to look at some files I had on it.

i tired the 10.5 multi, and i didnt have any problems, so i tried upping the fsb, and i got it too 220+ but after that prinme95 didnt wanna go, everythign else seemed fine, just prime95 would stay going, at 225 i stopped just because i could get into windows but then it would restart, its crazy, maybe some better memory?
i am actually VERY impressed with how the single 512 strip of muskin pc2700 OC'd, i got the machine to 220fsb on it, so im happy!!!
ill be checking this post for updates ill try to help

Prime95 at 203x10.5 Vcore 1.82 Vmem 2.7 Vchipset 1.7 for 28 hours no prob.

Now Prime95 torture testing @ 203x10.5 with an adjustment to Voltages. Vcore 1.8 VMem 2.7 Vchipset 1.7 VAGP 1.6 (.1 above stock). Seems to be running pretty nice, only time will tell though.

I really want to get the Vcore down from 1.82 and thought I would see what a bump of .1 to the AGP voltage would do for me.

EDIT: What got me thinking about bumping up the VAGP and then lowering the Vcore was, when I went to try and have a go at 203X11 with a 1.825 Vcore 2.7 VMem and 1.7 Vchipset, I got an invalid refresh rate error during POST. Now this with the fact that earlier I was only able to get the thing to Boot into Windowst with settings of 1.9 Vcore 2.7 Vmem 1.6 Vchipset and 1.5V AGP @200x11 got me thinking...(Also thanks to NoSlack) Well, I bumped the Vchipset up one earlier and was able to use a lower Vcore and get it running at 20X10.5, lets see if I can bump something else up and see what I can have happen. Turns out the bump in the VAGP has allowed me to drop the Vcore by .25. Its been Prime95ing 10 hours last I check (this morning before I left for work). With any luck by the time I get home tonight it will have passed 24 hrs and I will be

Well, 24 hours and stable at 1.8Vcore 2.7Vmem 1.7Vchipset and 1.6VAGP @ 203X10.5

Dropping the Vcore to 1.775 now and letting her Prime95.

I have another question though. Is there anything else I should run at the same time with Prime95 to really bust the system out?

This may be obvious, and you may have thought of it allready...Folding@Home??? or will it just split the cpu usage 50/50?

Prime went for 25 hrs @ 203X10.5 Vcore 1.75

Well, figured out that the beep beep beep beep.... was. After I bumped my AGP V up .1 to 1.6 from 2 posts above. That seemed to clear that up and now testing it at higher FSB's.

Testing now 210X10 Vcore 1.775 Vmem 2.7 Vchipset 1.7 VAGP 1.6
