| Finally got there, the "magic number" 500FSB now rolls on my boot screen at startup I know it's Asynch, But until i can find a processor to match it, I know the rest of my hardware is up for it. I am using a 3/4 Divider, 188x11 I am not sure how I can see it, other than at startup on the bootscreen, CPU-Z only shows as 378FSB Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 15-September-03 at 04:32 AM.. | ||

| So the Memory isn't realy running at 500FSB? Iknow the Cpu isn't. Without a camera, is there a way to take a Snapshot of the startup screen? like hitting Printscreen during bootup? Is there a good quick stand alone Bench for just memory? I want to see if running at 400FSB in synch is faster. | ||

| Na Bro, I didn't red light I got the memory at 500FSB, just not my CPU. Like running a 454 Big Block Chevy with a 2 barell carb My Sisoft Sandra memory benches are worse than at 400FSb in synch Overclocking just the memory to 500MHZ backfires on the benchmarks. I knew this going in, just wanted to see if my Mobo and Ram are up to the task. The Cpu still only takes Data at 378MHZ, hence BA said I fooled the Bios, I tried ALL the dividers with different FSB/CPU combos and memory timings Look at this thread I started because of something I read elswhere, I did my homework!!! >>>Can you run the Memory FSB faster than the CPU FSB? <<< Final settings: 188x11with 3/4 divider= 501MHZ Memory 378MHZ CPU, the CPU interface Enabled. Showed in Bios set up screen as 501mhz , It automaticaly calculates this and displays it. CPU interface picks the optimal ratio when enabled somehow, boot screen shows 500 instead of 501 Memory 2.5,5,5,11@2.9v 1.8vcore, 1.7N.B chipset. (about 12 hours of testing to find that magic combo ) I got stuck at 496 MHZ with another combo of FSB and dividers, with both sticks of ram in. I went down to 1 stick of ram, and tried each one till I found the one that went 500MHZ. I also went and got off my butt and threw in the SATA to IDE adapter, those 2 things pushed me over the top. My little T-Bred is tapped at 438 FSB Synchronous on Air. Last count u was weesin dat Barton at 440 I just took it up a notch, when ya gettin that Prome goin? Chrome Rust says his little volt mod, for the Abits NorthBridge chipset, plus extra cooling, will get me to 450+ on my T-bred on Air. I don't wanna watercool but if I have to, I got me a Danger Den Maze waterblock just in case.(cracked plexi carnage freebie) for nuttin this weekend due to a friends misfortune....>>>Life At 380fps <<< I'm gonna get a Barton (85$), they seem to overclock higher FSB than the T-Breds. This is just a warm up for 500MHZ FSB in synch Pal, Things are gunna get ugly Watch your back Mr Phase Change PIMP ![]() Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 16-September-03 at 03:57 AM.. | ||

| I try to attach images, a million different ways, asked for help at least a million times, Still all I get are the little red x boxes, and no-one has told me why.... Watch: Umm.. Thought ya might have more to say since ya got to 440FSB, and I just couldn't let that go without taking it up a notch... ![]() Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 15-September-03 at 02:03 PM.. | ||

| Yep, have been trying to figure it out for over 5 months now.... No one has explained it, I have tried reading the VB help section, searched the archives, tried hosting pics on my websight, and linking it in the Post control panel. A few other people have it happen to other people too, they ask, and no-one explained it to them either. I'm no Coding God, but I can usually figure something out given enough time, I am totaly stumped What am I doing wrong??? I hate adding hyperlinks, I'd rather just post the pic *EDIT* Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 16-September-03 at 02:57 AM.. | ||

| What is CMYK and change to RGB? The options I have are to save as JPEG, GIF and a few others, nothing like what you are mentioning. I tried to save as a 256 color pic, that didn't work either. Allright, I give up Hyperlink time>>>SANDRA Memory Bench<<< >>>CPUZ<<< *EDIT* GodFoot, I am using MS Paint, I don't have Photoshop (no PS Skillz) is that the problem? | Scotty: "Jim, she's dead in the water, the Dilithium Crystals are useless!!!!" Captain Kirk: "How long is it gonna take to fix Scotty?" Scotty: "Theres nothing I canna do with out those Crystals, we have to abondon ship!!!!" I am now stuck in AMD K6-2 Hell The Ram and /or Mobo is down for the count... Don't ask me how, cause I can't explain it, Ram modules are not supposed to be able to fit in the slot backwards and lock down, I didn't have my overhead light on, and I guess I didn't see where the slot in the ram line up with the tab in the memory slot on the motherboard, and she slid right in. I heard the nice little snap when I powered up ![]() Now all it does is spin up the hard drive, the lights are on, but no-one is home..... I was re-testing the Ram sticks one at a time, to see if I could get past my previous best of 438FSB in synch with the CPU, with a few changes I made over the weekend. I was sure I could now get past Zenn's Synchronous 440FSB... I had previuosly tested each chip and found one was good for 496 and the other went 500, but the magic marker ID on it had rubbed off on the good one. (Geil Platinum memory has Chrome heat spreaders) I have no way of telling wich is hosed, the Motherboard or Ram. It could be both. I tried the other stick of ram and it still wouldn't post. I might be able to test the memory in a friends computer next weekend, but a bad stick might screw up his motherboard. Well Zenn, looks like you get a solo run for the next round, she's dead at the starting line. I'm gonna have to tow it back to the shop for major repairs ![]() "I'LL BE BACK...." Remember what Arnold did next??? ![]() Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 17-September-03 at 03:19 AM.. | ||

| Welcome Kayin, Room for all in the search for the AMD Holy Grail ![]() I saw in another thread you have a Mobo that is supposed to go 500MHZ, what other parts are you going to use? 500MHZMemory in synch with 500MHZ Cpu Bus has been my goal since I got here a 5 months ago, told Zenn about it a little while back, he jumped in, I think Chrome_Rust was givin it a shot too. I am sure it can be done I made it halfway there, I had 500MHZ memory speed, then had a moment of memory loss, and lost my memory..... Now because of my stupidity, the only 500MHZ I will see for a while is on my K6-2 (RMA in progress Please stand bye...) I am gonna see if I can upgrade to PC4200 when I send the memory back, couldn't get both sticks of my Geil to do 500MHZ anyways, so I need a little more headroom if I want to run Dual Channel in Synch@500MHZ In Dual Channel mode the most I could get was 490MHZ Asynch ![]() Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 17-September-03 at 05:30 PM.. | ||

| that is my friend's rig. he wrote a review for the swiftec watercooler, thus getting it for free (that bastard). the mini freezer ran him about $150. dont worry he is a german guy. all german guys know how to overclock. its like common knowlege or something. hehe | ||
