Question Testing for Stability...

Ok working on my XP1700+ OC. How long using Prime95 without a crash is long enough to determine stability?

I've currently got my CPU running at 2 GHz (600 MHz OC) running Prime95 for about 3.5 hours now and no hickups....

I run for 24 Hours.

2312 (12.5 x 185) Vcore 1.65 = crashed in 2.5 hrs
------------------------ Vcore 1.675 =crashed in 6 hrs
-------------------------Vcore 1.70 = crashed after 10.5 hrs

2287 (12.5 x 183) Vcore 1.65 = crashed in 6 hrs
-------------------------Vcore 1.675 = crashed in 9 hrs
-------------------------vcore 1.70 = crashed at 18 hrs

2250 (12.5 x 180) Vcore 1.65 = stable for 24 hrs

When I say "crashed" I mean an error occurred in the calculations.

I don't use prime unless I am damn close to positive it is stable (it takes to long). I use 3DMark2001 as a quick screen (the test with the hundreds of little bad guys shooting each other freezes if oc'd too far.

In the above example, I had been running the first set of numbers dead stable (end user wise) for almost two weeks (gaming and everything) before I primed it and found out I was unstable.

Putwig is much more thorough than I, and obviously for good reason. I ran Prime for 4 hours before I figured it was good enough for everyday use. Been holding my 1.1GHz OC for over a month now with no crashes, even during high CPU usage games. I don't know if I'm unstable or not, but it's running like a raped ape and I'm loving it.

As an addendum, a lot of folks have mentioned my Vapo lately like it was a magic tool to OCing. It's not. The Vapo ate two of my CPU's, one that I was very attached to and will miss. Just as surely it will eventually eat my current 1700+. Vapor Phase Change cooling not only requires a large initial investment, but it also requires an understanding that you are running equipment so far out of spec that you will eventually kill it.

Guys like Zennzo are perfect for this setup cause he's a crazy son of a bitch who doesn't give a damn. I can't wait to see what he will do with his new Promie. Again, just a sidebar note.

I remember reading about that in your review on the Vapo... After reading that I was like, Um no thanks...
