| I just ordered my AMD 2500+ Barton 333 FSB from newegg.com and I really want to overclock it. I was on a super budget so I couldn't get a better heatsink or anything else for that matter. Would it better just too leave it alone for now or try to boost up the speed? I'm also a nOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOb at this I may need TONS of help Can anyone show me step by step how to do it or like recommend me some guides? Please help me!!!! Thanks A BUNCH!!! ![]() | ||

| Barton 2500 At 2.6 GHZ is an example of what one with watercooling maxed out can do. Most people who get a "good core" and have the right motherboard and memory can turn a 2500+ into a 3200+ with just the stock fan. Try this for some Ideas>400FSB Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 30-August-03 at 10:42 AM.. | ||

| OK, thats our plan, Give you an Idea of what some people do around here, and then you can plan yours right early on, Let us know how it's going What kind of other plans do you have? It helps to list what you have and maybe you can post some pics and let us know how it goes when it comes in, Do you have any benchmarks of it now? I might suggest you use better thermal paste (easier to clean up!) for your new Barton. The thermal pad that comes with new CPU's and retail HSF's is hard to get off once it's on and heats up, kinda like a wax thats melted and hardened. I found out the hard way when I upgrade to a Zalman HSF If you remove it to put on a new one later, make sure you clean it of realy well. It gets deep in the micro finish of the Heat Sink and Fan. Keep an eye on the temperatures when overclocking, no more than 40c to 50c for long term health. Mother Board Monitor is great program for keeping an eye on things and it's free. Most people have realy good luck with Arctic Silver products. I have Artic silver 3 on mine, helped lower my temperatures 3-4 degrees. I'm going to try the AS Ceramic soon, It works even better. Check out some of it for yourself over at Xoxide Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 31-August-03 at 04:42 AM.. | ||

| Kelta, I'd leave the cpu @ stock unless you have a decent motherboard and sufficent cooling, Specs? Also, post the code off the label on your CPU so we can get a general idea of its overclocking abilities.
Actually necro, the best thermal paste is not even a paste, but it lowers temperatures up to 10C! ![]() Nanotherm PCM+

| Peanut Butter also works good and when you heat up your CPU it gives off a great aroma. Mayonnaise smells a little acrid, and Jello starts to turn to water under heat. Olive oil reminds me of Italy, but bacon fat has to be my favorite. According to another member, you can burn human fat and it smells like bacon so you should have no problem finding a supplier. | ||

| Yep. I remember that Highway. Highway O' Death. One of the things that really sticks in my mind were the strafe marks on the pavement from the A-10s. That and a truck about 10 vehicles back lost one of the duallys on his trailer, and the came rolling by me. One of the strangest things you'll see. | ||

Kinda funny how, overclocking thread here turned into "What burned people smell like" I laughed out loud. Maybe burning pagan iraqi's smell worse than god fearing americans.Slider, its stranger seeing on highway 69 up to northern Ontario, a fully loaded rig hit a moose, the moose gets up, shakes head, walks back into the forest. The rig is totaled, moose is fine.. btw slider, I hate you...
