nice to know, now what type of everythng are you running, and what are you cooling wiht, some pics maybe, and what did you have previously that wasnt 3GHz

Also, anybody can have balls, but overclocking doesnt show them, say you ran a suicide run with like 2v on the CPU and went for 4, that would be a little daring, but otherwise you dont even have a WR so keep trying

Not to sound mean, but you didnt ex[plain anything in your post just a picture of your CPU-z

Thats some pretty nice speedson a tornado cooled xp-90, thanks for adding the specs, How high have you got it stable, and what about posting some scores, like 3dmarks, and sisoft, maybe some superPI's looks like you have some potential in the OC feild have you tried GPU OCing

Also if you care to post some scores add them to the hwbot forum here, sounds like you got a pretty nice system

This was the best suicide run from an "Early" stepping 3800+X-2, it was made in Aug 2005, when was yours made? (Grab CBID to find out)

Here is what I use for "Daily" driving, 2.7GHZ is just a bit too unstable for my tastes.

Ok Necro I've got me a question: You and I appear to have brother chips. Why can i run mine all day at 2.8ghz and at least 3 hours at 2.85 (Dual Prime 95, haven't had a crash in either situation, but I got tired of waiting after 3 hours) I daily drive mine at 2.8 since I do homework on my machine and can't afford lock ups or worse. I've hit over 2.9ghz in suicide runs, and once I get a board with more voltage I hope to hit 2.9 or even 3 stable.
That aside, what gives with these "bad" or "good" steppings, you and I should have the same, yet our overclocking is drastically different. And it clearly isn't a case of skill, since you've been guiding me along the whole time ( no the student hasn't surpassed the master yet ) But yet all over the place I hear about "Buy this stepping" or "oo you got a crappy stepping" well from your processor I'd say this stepping is mediocre compared to some of the other OC I've seen out of 3800+ X2s, but then mine is doing ok, right up there with the big boys, sure it's not 2.9, but It is damn close, and I don't need any insulation either.

In short I'm confused.

WTF!

Edit oh yeah the screenie was done in paint, 16 colors or something like that, I don't have PS re-installed, so I had to make it ugly to make it small enough)

I surpased the master necro long ago. The stepping really has to do with the memoy controller and how well it will let the chip clock. Similar steppings have the same memory controller batch so they perform around the same. The lower the batch number the better they perform as well. Ive seen alot of guys get about 3.2 on water out of a good 3800 x2 on water. Ive seen 3.6 on dry ice and phase
