Default before overclocking

I definitely want to overclock, but........

I upgraded from an xp1800+ Palomino cpu to a xp2400+ and am having problems. No other changes with my machine and I flashed the latest BIOS (version 6B) for this motherboard (KX7-333r). All the basic stuff, internet, email, works ok. New Thermalright sk7 heatsink with Delta 60mm (Im kinda deaf so noise no prob) keeps cpu at 40c. But if I start Dungeon Siege it locks up within 30 seconds. The 1800cpu scored 1757 on 3dMark03, the test wont begin with the 2400. Norton virus scan locked up. As with the 1800, I have nVidia GeF4 Ti 4200 128mb pushed to 305core/550mem, haven't changed that. Running Win2k on Antec PSU 350. Please help!

What is the multiplier and RAM settings you are using?

Default settings from BIOS:

FSB = 133
Ratio (FSB:AGPCI) = 4:2:1
Multiplier = 13 (actually has ">=x13")

Not sure what RAM settings might be, I'm still new a lot of this stuff. Thx!

Go into Advanced Chipset Features in the bios. Select DRAM Clock/Drive Control and press Enter. Report every setting from DRAM Clock on down.

Active to CMD (Trcd) = 3T

DDR DQS Input Delay = Auto (If Manuel
Input Delay Value = 24
DDR DQS Output Delay = Auto (if Manuel
Output Delay Value = 40

MD Drive strength = Auto (or Low, Med. High)
DIMM 1 & 2 CMD Drive Strength = Auto (or Low, Med. High)
DIMM 3 & 4 CMD Drive Strength = Auto (or Low, Med. High)

Enhanced DRAM Performance = Disabled
DRAM Acess = 3T
DRAM Queue Depth = 2 level
DRAM Command Rate = 2T Command

And I'm working with 1024MB DDR 2700 Samsung.
Thanks, BigAkita!

Big Akita-

I see you're pretty busy in this forum, but whenever you can maybe suggest something here would be great.

I haven't done any overclocking yet, just installed the 2400 cpu.

I have an Antec 350 psu. Others have indicated this might be the problem.

I've done failsafe settings in BIOS, puts it at 1.5mhz, no dif.

I've read stuff about maybe I have the wrong version / rev. / model #, whatever, to support the xp2400+ cpu?? I've received an ok from Abit to rma this, your opinion?
