| Ok so i just sold my rig! "Project My Armor!" Sold it for 1800 dollars... Now i wanted to go AM2 Buy cant find a really good chip... Not one am2 chip has a 1Mb cache on it! But the x2 3800+ and its 512x2 you know! So here is my ? What is the big diff between AM2 and The God S939?? Is it that big of a deal to shoot for it and what chip is a goodie... Knowing there is no optys is very upsetting! Should i just stick to what i know and pick up another top notch s939? Or go for this AM2 stuff! I cant even find a AM2 DFI board!! Whats up with that? Im starting to think that AM2 was a dud just like s754! Well if you pimps could help a pimp out in need it would be really nice... thanks alot... Matt | ||

Actually there are at least 2 AM2 CPUs that have 2 x 1MB L2 cache, the FX 62 and the X2 4000+ Of course, the FX 62 is out of the average consumer's price range and the X2 4000 is still 4 bills.
Well just today DFI released their first AM2 board (SLi) but I am sure they will have more cost-friendly boards on the market in the coming weeks. Edit: The extra memory bandwidth on the AM2 platform makes a lot of difference also, I had absolutely no problems OCing my single core 3800 (stock 2.4) to 2.95, will need to tweak to go further and I only have DDR2 667.

| Honestly with the prices nearly the same for 939 and AM2 CPUs, I would go AM2 simply for 2 reasons currently; memory bandwidth (especially if you get DDR2 800 or better), and future compatibility with AM3 without having to upgrade all at once. | ||

If you like your L2 cache, theres always the Conroe option. An E6400 system would be better than virtually any AM2 CPU except an FX62. Partner it with a Gigabyte DS3 and your on for a winner. And thats a $395 combo. E6400 $250 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115004 DS3 $145 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128012 If you really want AM2 though, theres an nVidia SLI 590 board coming soon.
