There it is ; i got a Palamino cpu 1700+ (1.467 ghz)

I tryed to unlock it on the L1 bridge fill up the holes then i try the pencil trick didn't work , then Banana Boy told me to try AS3 so tryed that also didn't work
now on my board gigabyte 7n400 L-1 i can only raise my cpu clock by the Bios no jumper on the board only one for the FSB.

Could it be possible that there is another L-Bridge to unlock like the L3 for those board without jumper??

you gotta be very very careful and make sure you made the connection dude. It works for me every time.

what about the method by connecting the pins on the socket? seems like it would be worth a try.

I made good straight ligne connection & none of them is touching each other.

so do not know what up with this $$#%%? cpu?

How?? i would have to be realy shure that i'm connecting thoses pin for the right cpu , must be some difference between the Palamino & T-bred A-B , Barton ........

I don't wont to f--- up my board but for the cpu it would be half bad

My suggestion is to spend the money on a new CPU and then put that CPU in a comp made for folding.

thats your problem right there. You have to carefully carefully go around the lasercuts and make sure the AS isn't touching one of the holes. Dip the needle in as and touch the needle to your wrist so that just a spec of AS is left on the tip of the needle. I mean almost nothing dude. Then carefully draw around each slit (laser lock) and touch the two terminals together for each bridge, making sure not to get any as in the laser locks. If you do, startover by getting a Q-Tip and some rubbing alcohol, let dry, and try again. Good luck. A good idea is to take each bridge area off when doing so and the just rip the tape off once done, but a big peice of tape over the finished product, reattach heatsink, turn the baby on and bam you got an unlocked CPU.


ROFL @ PENCIL TRICK! IT ONLY WORKS ON DURONS!

pencil trick won't work on the pal,it's not conductive enough.crayon or super-glue to fill the etches,then use a needle and apply window de-fogger grid repair fluid to all the L1 bridges.(1800 pal@148 fsb and pc2100)

So my holes where fill before drawing some lignes with AS3
& yes it was touching the 2 terminals but anyways , i probably just gona do that clean it & try it again but it look fine when i take a look at it.

BTW : I dont know how you do it going around the holes(So small) you're better then me to do this i can only go on a straight line , but my holes are fill up so i can go straight , better for me.(easyer)

Palomino sucks for o/cing anyway. You need a T-bred 1700. They rock. Cheap too.

Ok! now an update ;
I got my CPU unlock , i clean everything & restart it all over again & now it's working but......
I can only get over my original clock (x11) x11.5 & x12 & the under clock is 8.5 & below.
So can not get anything between x9 & x10.5 (since i clear the Cmos because of to much high memory clock ,could not boot)

But before that I was getting the x9 ,x9.5 ,x8.5 , x8 ,...... but nothing over x11 , x10 didn't boot (reset works) & 10.5 all give me the same as x11 don't know what happen there?? it's a good board but i find the Bios is reacting strangely.

& before all this I upgraded my Bios cuz i could not get the right temperature for my cpu (Was to dam low for a Pal.) & easy tune 4 was not working only giving me temps.
Then the upgrade got out & it was to fix my 2 problems.
So I said to my self cool! i was waiting for this , a new Bios to fix it so i did it , guess what?

Everything Works now Temps are good ,easy tune 4 works fine now but after a shutdown (power off) then the next day turn on the computer everything was still ok , but my integraded Ethernet card (nvidia) was not working anymore.
i tryed almost everything to make it work (2-3 hrs) i even got to a format & reinstall but nothing to doo then , i put my modem by USB cable & it's works fine , so then i got back in the Bios & disable the Ethernet card (On chip Lan (nvidia)) & left that the way it is now.

I think that Gigabyte or nvidia still got some work to doo on that Bios board , anyways i hope if there is a next Bios to come out that it would not give me any more problems (A good fix).

BTW: Still it is a good board & prety much stable one too .

Thx! Hawklen but i'm gona wait for more money to buy another cpu maybe the 2200+ or the Barton 2500+ (if i got the cash for it)

Expensive here in Montreal the 2500+ is $139.xx (Retail) + 15% of taxes so not cheap at all & the 2200+ is $119.xx (Retail) & yes + that f--- 15% taxes.

My problem that i had with my Inboard Lan is fix now ,
Gigabyte just got out a new Bios to fix it & now my board is without any problems.

Now i can keep my mind on overclocking , i'll run a fiew tests & let you know later if i got a good overclock for my 1700+ Palomino.
