1.833 GHz. I have one.

I've already had mine at 1920 MHZ, and I'm pretty sure I can get it to 2.2 Ghz. Use the FSB, not the multiplier to OC and you'll have a lot better luck.

Don't bother with a sound card, the onboard sound on that board is phenominal.

Take the cash you save, and upgrade your videocard to a ATI 9700 Pro (about $300 bucks versus about $225 for the TI4600).

I wouldnt go that far about sound cards, I have the same mobo he has and i can tell a severe difference in quality between my sound blaster audigy than the onboard sound, but maybe thats just me.

I have heard the board in person Vamp, and I was very impressed.

Furthermore, every review I have read has proclaimed exceptional quality.

Maybe you got a bum piece of kit?

Hi guys and thanks for your comments.

The SB card is from the rig i presently have, running an old tbird 1400 on an abit kt7a. I will probably keep this system as a network gaming rig for when mates want come round. If the sound from the new mb is of a decent quality (and run my Cambridge Soundworks DeskTop Theater 5.1 DTT2500) then the old SB can stay here.

I will post back here when I have the system up and running and let you know what i think. Until then, any more comments and suggestions are welcome

That comment about leaving the SB on the old rig is right on. Abit is one of the few people with soundstorm certification, which can spank an Audigy and go toe-to-toe with an Audigy 2. I've got it, and I no longer even look at soundcards. They're just a waste of cash.

Sounds like i made the right chopice with the abit board then. It was either that or the Asus A7N8X.

I am a little worried about being able to get dolby digital out of the mb though without an optical connection. Is that possible on the mb? I als ohope I will be able to have something like EAX?? I read somewhere its EAX2 compatable?

Yup, in your manual, you should get the instructions on how to set it up, and it should come wit all the connections.

Haven't. Mine's not in final config. Still shy good RAM, and I'm on a different board, without all my Windows updates.

All I know is it's faster than what I used to have, and I'm happy.

i have to agree with putwig.
look for a radeon 9700 non pro instead of the geforce 4 you will be much happier.

what brand of ram are you getting, if you plan on overclocking i'd try to get a good name brand. Corsair or Geil.

Now that I listen to the sound again it is a good sound quality, maybe i should switch it over if i could get the rear speakers to work. I think that the proble m with it before was the fact taht i didnt have all of the windows updates installed and the drivers werent working at full capacity because of that.

I already have the gf4 and cant replace it for a bit. It has been the thing in this rig keeping all the new games running well!

Wont be oc straight away, will be getting a new case with better cooling solution first.

Any suggetsions on a decent case with good cooling that isnt going to cost the earth?
