| I used to drag race, so the idea of FSB racing has intrigued me, I have seen some AMD Mobos hit 210-230+FSB (actual), is a 500 FSB (250x2) on an AMD system even possible? A review I saw had a Intel 2.6 hit 1200+ FSB (quad pumped 300FSB) on Cryo, so I know the memory available today will do it. I plan on using a Barton 2500+ for now, but the the 3200+(400FSB) might have a better shot (when they come down in price). After much research, these boards seem to hit at least 210+ FSB: ABIT NF-7 Rev 2, ASUS A7N8X Deluxe , EPOX RDA3+. I was leaning towards EPOX, but my friend, a computer store manager, said he has had too many RMA issues with them in the past. Now I am thinking Abit NF7 rev2, as alot of you have had good luck with that board (BA). Memory will be 512 meg of PC3500 (2x256). Geil Golden Dragon has made a few of you happy, Corsair might be my other choice (Someone here said its like a V12 Jag, for half the price it can beat with a Big Block Chevy) I have read at least 30+ reviews on memory, and have given up because I read too many conflicting reviews, so I need some real world experience from you guys, not someone trying to hawk a product. I will spend the extra money for better hardware if needed, but these are my choices so far: Geil 2x256 Golden Dragon PC3700 ABIT NF7 Rev2 AMD Barton 2500 I have also read that dual channel can cause instability at high FSB, so would a single channel Mobo like a KT600 board be better for "Drag Racing"? Water cooling may come at a later date, 500+HP Supercharged So I need a solid foundation to build from, Any other ideas would be appreciated in my quest for a 500FSB! | Well, I'll give you what I know. Bartons were all designed for 400 FSB, so any one of them will run it. Heat was the issue with the die, which is why the 333's were released, but the 3200 has a copper/aluminum cooler. Proof poitive that it's just the heat issue. Now, it's your biggest enemy. 500 FSB? Maybe, but you had better cool it down good,and i don't think that air could do it-but I could be wrong. Oh, and if you bump the FSB to 400 and leave the multi stock-3200. That's my plan... | ||

| Don't think you'll hit 500 fsb with any current AMD board. The Abit and Gigabyte nforce boards are probably the fastest and they both crap out around 220-225/440-450. B.A. didn't get any further with his Vapochill than I did on water. I don't think heat is the real issue. Goden Dragon 3200 has done 467 on Intel. GD 3500 has done over 500. And OCZ 3700 has done 552. It won't be your ram holding you back I think. | ||

| I had a feeling that there was a bottlenck, just didn't know what component it was, I will adjust my goal to a realistic 450 FSB. If the motherboard is the limiting factor, it seems PC3700 would just be overkill, I will save some money and go with PC3200 (wasn't crazy about the loose timings of PC3700 anyway) The Barton 3200 would also be a waste of money vs the 2500 also. You guys saved me a load of dough, THANKS! Gotta go order some parts now ![]() | ||

| ABIT NF7-S ,nForce2 SPP chipset Support AMD Socket A with 200/266/333 FSB ,8X AGP,SATA 150 ATX motherboard $123.00 Kayin, This is the board I was planning on getting, it does not mention revision 2 at new egg. That is the correct board though right? I don't want to get the older 1.2 by accident! | ||

| RAM:3x 184Pin DDR Supports 3 DIMM DDR 200/266/333 (Max. 3GB)or 2 DIMM DDR 400 (Max. 2GB) Was listed down a little farther in the add. Was thrown a little by "Apogee" , Chaintech I am familiar with, I did consider it at one time, I think they didn't have 4 Cooler mounting holes, so I ruled any board out that didn't have them. If it had that one feature I would have grabbed it, AWESOME board | ||

| It does, if I'm not mistaken. It completes my mod, which is soon to be pictured here... You're right, it is incredible, and it's awesome what they package in it as well... I'm gonna go check to see if that board does have the mounting holes or not... Checked. http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.asp?style=album Go and see. It has the holes. My personal fave, and I wish I saw more Chaintechs... | ||

| Pimpmasters are all powerfull, all seeing...It was a Via chipset that put it in my no category, I got it confused with another Nforce board (Gigabyte?) that I was drooling over till I saw they didn't have the 4 holes... it was nearly a perfect board (with dual bios) But I gotts too have to have my 4 ho's.... ![]() | ||

| Nope, it's nForce2 Ultra 400-let me find the appropriate link... http://www.chaintech.com.tw/tw/eng/p...No=13&PISNo=13 There-the perfect board-in my opinion... | ||

| Here we go again...just when I think I've got it all narrowed down, LOL. Its a new board so I am having a hard time finding a good comparrison review, Checked my usual stops and nothing. I would get one if it can hit 225FSB, My Buddy already has a red MSI board, didn't realy want my machine to look to much like his anyway. Got link? (Yes I did the google thing too) | ||

| To a review, I looked at the manufacturers link you sent. Found one Exteme overclocking it hit the wall at 210 Fsb Last edited by $SOLID$ Necro; 06-July-03 at 04:56 PM.. | ||

| Chrome _Rust: I think the Epox RDA is a great board, one of my finalists. Alot of people on the 3DMARK ORB are in the top spot with it. The only thing I see that might holding you back from getting 200+FSB (actual FSB setting in your Bios) is your PC2700 memory. PC3200 or PC3500 of good memory Like Geil or Corsair should alow you to hit a 200FSB or more. Before you run out and buy new memory, I would experiment with different FSB VS Multiplier in your BIOS, eventually working up too setting the FSB at 200, and the multiplier to 10 and see what happens. If it locks up on you at any time, reset the CMOS jumper on your motherboard, relax the memory timings and try again. If it doesnt get to 200x10, then at that point I would upgrade to a faster memory. Also keep an eye on your temperatures. Good Luck, let us know how you do! | ||
