Question Good mobo for 1700+ JIUHB?

I am getting a 1700+ JIUHB for $60 from SVC (unless you can point me toward a better price) and I have a budget of CPU + Motherboard for $100. I have hear of what I think was the k7s5a but you cannot increase the FSB on it to 200MHz, only to 166MHz. So here it is:
  • 1700+ JIUHB or 1800+ JIUHB and Mobo for under $100 Total
  • FSB overclockable to 200MHz
  • voltages, FSB and Multiplier (and dividers if possible) settable
  • at least 3 RAM slots
  • Socket A

If anyone can answer this by 1600 hours @ PST (Pacific Standard Time) on Saturday I would be very grateful

PS I am going to OC it to at least 2.4GHz so the board must support that

is what you listed is your overclocking goal, you aren't going to get it with a board like the k7s5a, look for mobo's with the nforce2 chipset perferrably the nforce2 ultra 400.

Not possible for you to get both CPU and Mainboard for under $100 and have your FSB overclockable to 200MHz and voltages, FSB and Multiplier settable.

Your best bet is to get the Epox 8RDA+ and you should also consider the cheaper 1700+ because it's the shiznit and quite overclockable...everyone is getting them and are very satisfied with the bang-to-buck...1700+ for $42@Newegg.com

That Summit wil do it. I've owned Chaintech in the past-that's the mATX brother to the Apogee, which freakin rules, as some of you can attest. Check NewEgg's neurotic processor rant. Got a kick out of them when I got my barton today...

JIUHB will go to 2.4 ghz if you really pimp it.

Check Newegg, you can probably find a POS case for cheap.

I say squeeze your friend for a couple of extra bucks-if he wants quality, get him to pay for it.

Yes newegg is the best place to go. u can get that 1700 for under $50 there. Also they got a good selection of mobos there. I got a refurbed Asus A78NX Deluxe for under $80. Works great. Only problem was locating all the drivers since none of the accesories come with a refurb But oh well cant go wrong with that price. Here is the link to the Asus mobosits the last one. Just chkd they dont have any refurbs of that one though.

If you plan to take it to 2.4 better forget about a cheay case, you need a good PSU to force it that high.

i notice the 8rda+ says max FSB of 333MHz, i know they often multiply the FSB by two does this mean the max FSB is really only 166MHz?
And by the way I am still curious, how does the t-bred version compare to the JIUHB version? as far as temps and OC'ability that is
Thank you you people are very kind to newbies like me great to have help with a long term thing like this

If ya got a lil extra ends get the epox 8rda3+, newegg has it now. It's 119 bucks. I speak from experience here, when overclocking, especially the overclock you"re trying to achieve, don't go cheap on the power supply or the ram. You get what you pay for

The 1700+ JIUHB is a T-Bred core.

It is just a stepping that oc's particularily well.

I suspect that with the other steppings you would get the standard 200 - 300 MHz oc.

The link someone posted above to the 1700+ T-Bred at newegg is a bit of a crapshoot. Basically, you are hoping to get the JIUHB stepping (and the last 10 or so reported buyers have), but Newegg makes no promises as to which stepping you receive. Whereas at SVC you pay $16 bucks more for the guaranteed JIUHB stepping. Make sense?

I got 530mhz o/c with my 2000+ tbred, and if you want the fsb and memory to run in synchronous, you have to have memory that can support 200fsb...(I think, correct me if im wrong)

EDIT: corrected the too many zero's error

The 2000 FSB is still really expensive!

I would get 200 FSB ram (DDR 3200) or 217 FSB (DDR 3500).

And yes, for optimal performance run your ram synchronously.
