| am i a trendsetter or what, lol btw, if anyone else wants to get one but is afraid that their chances arent that good, consider this... bro in law got one....JIUHB lateronmly got one...JIUHB slider got one....JIUHB and these were within the last day or two, if you are going to get one, do it now, do it fast, and get several, these cpus are so overpowered for the price its laughable, and lateronmly and slider are about to discover that...provided they have a mobo that will allow them to.... some helpful info before you start.... >>the cpu accepts a 333mhz fsb at stock multiplyer at stock voltage... >>i yielded 2.0 ghz with a voltage of around 1.65, 11.5 multiplyer, and a fsb of 175/350, this is its most stable, and this is what i would whole heartedly reccomend you aim for, if you go any higher, i cant help, and depending on your setup, your system might not be able to either... >>i think if your chipset is Nforce2, it unlocks the cpus mult automatically, either that, or they are factory unlocked, i could google but then again, so can you... >>your temps with above average cooling should fall within the 38-42c range, with your load temps never going over 46-50c, this is too hot for alot of people, but if you are serious about this, then this is juuuuuuuust fine.... >>dont clean your motherboard with Diet Coke >>make sure you do NOT enable BIOS / RAM / or anything else cacheable in the BIOS, on an overclocked system, this is asking for trouble, also disable clock spread spectrum (all) since this will also cause trouble with a good overclock.. >>make sure that if you are trying to keep your cpu and ram fsb synchronous, that you have ram that can keep up with the xp-1700, mine is a prime example of this, running at 280mhz with OK timings, had i opted for some 333mhz or even 400mhz ddr, my system would be taking flight right now, but ill just have to settle for "fast" for the moment...btw, slow ram MIGHT be a limiting factor to your overclock, it depends on your motherboard, BIOS, and the holy hand grenade... >>NEVER put your elbows on the table when eating >>be sure to install whatever OS you are using at absolute default speeds and settings / timings....just get the OS installed and then BEFORE DOING ANYTHING ELSE, like installing games or apps, OVERCLOCK IT, and then test the stability over, and over, and over in windows, this way, you wont have wasted your time installing things that...in all likelyhood...might just get formatted right back off because of an overclock gone haywire... >>LEARN, REMEMBER, GET USED TO, AND BECOME VERY, VERY FAMILIAR WITH YOUR CLEAR CMOS JUMPER ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD!!!!.....because you WILL use it, mark my words, best be on a first name basis with it, and for some of you, even that wont be enough, also find your FAILSAFE JUMPER, and JCLOCK (100mhz or 133mhz jumper), since most of these will act in a very similar manner >>if you do get hung up, and the system refuses to post no matter what you do, remember this, sometimes you can be standing right over someone beating them with a pillow trying to wake them up...and they wont...but when you sneak into their room, grab a pillow, and suddenly hit them with it, they wake up in a flash....in other words, if clearing the cmos dont work, try being sneaky and move your ram to a different slot, or removing it completely-booting-turn off-replace-boot, or for me, what has been known to work for some weird reason....moving the drive priority jumper (master, slave, csel)...go figure... | When I placed my order, I could have worked a Zenith into the order if I didn't order the "extras" (2 fans, CC, etc etc). I just looked at the specs, and the 7NJL1 was 108 bucks, Zenith was about 50 bucks more, and didn't have anything more that I really wanted over the Apogee. Now I just need more work so I can order in a DVD drive and a larger HD. My current HD is a shameful 20 gigs, but it'll work for now. ![]() | ||

| Slider, I envy you. You got the chip and can play with yer rig now. I'm only able to sit and stare at my new stuff because my tower/PSU isn't here... No one seems to understand my pain over this! Ohh the computing gods are fickle and mean! Kayin - that would definately be cool if you could pull strings, I REALLY need a chaintech video card. It isn't on my top priority list (not a huge gamer, more audio based), but ohh god it needs to be upgraded. Currently have a recycled - very used, very old generic POS. | ||
